As I lay here trying to sleep on what is our last night at this park, here is my recap after 4 nights stay.

This park was near on impossible to try and contact just three weeks out from Australia Day. I could never get through on the phone. Even tried a FB message which was read with no reply and then I had Big4 head office reach out direct for me by email. Eventually after days of trying my call finally got picked up & yes I tried at all times of the day.

Once I got us booked for a dog friendly powered site we were excited to visit Normanville from Vic for the first time.

Checking in was seamless & our site 102 was nice & spacious although we would recommend to others to opt for more shade in summer being this site didn’t have as much shade from the heat as others.

The boardwalk to the beach was handy though remembering codes for the boardwalk gate, the amenities and the entry/exit boom gate was tedious.

Brace yourself for wind as there is plenty of it.

The amenities were pleasant and clean but the showers do struggle to hold a consistent temp at times but overall good.

The location is the hero. A beautiful beach and a friendly new surf club building with food n drinks to go. Only drawback is the upstairs restaurant at the surf club doesn’t do take away or allow those like me with a dog to dine downstairs outside.

The absolute worst part of our entire stay was two/three direct neighbouring sites who were here the same duration, all known to each other, no less than 10ppl in total who blatantly ignored noise curfew at 10pm every night keeping their drinking & antics going until the early AM every night. By night 3 we addressed the issue with them politely only for it to fall on deaf ears.

Not one for confrontation I emailed the park direct with my complaint but heard zero back and therefore continued to suffer as a result. This was less than impressive and extremely marred our stay.

So whilst I have done some research and come to understand this park has recently turned into a Big4 it’s not the Big4 experience we are accustomed to as members & frequent travellers.

Hence do your due diligence before booking and enquire if your site will be located next to families and friends who congregate and pack as many as they can in side by side sites. It may provide you the peace and sanity we were so cruelly robbed of.

& if park admin decide to reply to this review (when they couldn’t reply to my email) it’s not good enough that you didn’t assist with this. I stated I don’t like complaining or confrontation and my email should have been suffice versus an office visit to address this. Ultimately your lack of response greatly spoiled what could have been an enjoyable time which warrants my transparent review...

We booked a powered site for 3 nights for our van. Easy to book online compared to others in the area. Lovely spot and level which I appreciate as a new single mum travelling with a toddler. Made my life easier!

Didn’t use the facilities as we have our own ensuite etc but the location was great right near the surf club kiosk which we grabbed icecream and fish and chips from.

Kiddo loved how close the beach was from our van and we were able to go down most days.

Only thing I would add to the park is a playground or something for little kids. The playground on the foreshore is pretty limited to 2 slides. It looks pretty but not really functional for smaller kids. Nice grassy spot to play though and have a picnic.

Dump point is on one side of the park so would be handy with one the other side too but can be worked around. I usually have to drive to the dump points as I have a toddler to watch and it had ample space to get close to it & still watch my child which is appreciated unlike some parks that have them in main thoroughfares with no pull over space.

Overall a lovely little park. Quiet too. Location location for this park. Moments from Second Valley and Rapid Bay and a good base to explore the surrounding area.

Well priced too and nice and tidy. Can see the effort they put in daily to...

A little surprised/ disappointed.

Pull into this park just after midday looking for 2 x powered sites.

The park is all but empty. Endless mowed sites everywhere.

In a somewhat unfriendly way we are told we can't book in until 2pm!!

I get that is often a policy but really. The place is empty. The place is mowed.

I ask again. Surely you can let us in. NO.

OK. I ask is the owner around. I am told she is the manager!!!

Clearly not the owner as who in their right mind would let 2 customers drive away when the place is empty.

So off we went to the next caravan park down the road. Greeted nicely. Straight to our site and set up so we could go and explore.

It's good to see that the caravan park industry is doing so well they are happy to turn away paying guests.

Edit. Thank you for your reply. That afternoon just on sunset we went for a walk in front of the new surfclub. The mowed sites in front of your reception that i pointed out as empty and very suitable remained empty.

Perhaps you are correct and all those people just failed to turn up, but I doubt it!!! It was a shame you were not very accommodating as the park looked nice.

In saying that the one literally down the road...

This is a beautifully presented campsite on a pristine beach. The park is well thought out with permanent accommodation and powered sites. Beware the sites up top near the kitchen, can catch the wind!!😬 🌀 There are however secluded spots around and about. The huge kitchen has three big cookers, a huge glass fronted fridge, sofas and tables. An open fire hearth for Winter. And a big TV. All overlooking the sea. The toilets/showers are just great. Except for the men's hand dryer that makes you feel like you're trying to mime Liberace when hunting the 'On' function. The entertainment room is fab, with a full size table tennis set up (with bats/balls), and one table for single use. Plus a (free) table soccer .... always a scream. Pets allowed. Love this campsite❤️👍

Very warm and welcoming lady on reception yesterday who gave clear directions. Lovely big park that sits across both sides of the river and has a variety of different accomodation options. The executive cabins overlooking the river are stunning to look at as you cross the boardwalk. Amenities clean and tidy. Cute bunnies all around my site, morning and night. Sites 72 and 73 have a beautiful farmland view. I was in bay 1 which had lush green grass and was very private nestled in the sand dune and bush. Not too far to walk into town and the main road has lots of lovely big trees to walk amongst. You'd miss them if you drove into town. Every bin I went to was chockas including the green waste skip.
