What fantastic pasties! Potato potato potato! What a true Australian treasure. After working in the hospitality industry for 7 years and eating pasties after pastie, i consider myself somewhat of an expert, even being known to some of my friends as "Pastie Pete". When i first entered this fine establishment it took me back to when i first ate my very first pastie all those years ago - it was at this point that my love affair with pasties began. The cruch. The potato. The heartwarming healthy yet decadent snack, botha treat and a meal replacement depending on what you need it to be. My life was changed from that day forwards. Looking down now at my plump belly and reflecting on the numerous comments from 'friends' about my developing paunch, im beginning to think that maybe they arent just joking around when they say "Pastie Pete is at it again". Is it because i work in the hospitality industry? Is it because my car is full of crumbs and wrappers that i never get past a first date? I remember my first date. Apparently a candle lit bakery feast doesn't please the ladies. Anyway - you cant go wrong with this place. The sausage...
Read moreNo stars for this monster. I'm giving it a star as I cant post this otherwise. It seems like a normal bakery- and looks good, sort of semi attached to the local Foodland. We visited approximately a year ago, and I bought a pasty there. It tasted like potato without any salt in it. It was horrible. I opened it up and there seem to be vegetables in it but there was no flavour whatsoever. And it was not cheap. It was so horrible I had to throw it in the bin and go into the Foodland next door and purchase a cold Villi pasty from the refrigerated section and eat that cold, and that tasted 1000% better. Speaking to locals in the Foodland line while waiting to purchase the villi pasty, they told me in whispers the only good bakery locally was at Yankallilla... that is where the locals go for pies pasties and buns. Be warned ppl. There is not much choice of dining on a midweek at Normanville. We tried the surf lifesaving club but they were out of everything except icecream. Very disappointing. Best to collect lunch from Yank Bakery as you drive through on the way to...
Read moreI've been coming here for over three years but recently the service has been rapidly declining - it also appears there ia a lot of staff turnover too. I ordered a flat white, 60° temp, at half strength, and a latte as it comes. We were served two half strength drinks, one made with soy milk and both hot enough to take the skin off your lips. It's not rocket science, really! It's also worth mentioning that when we visit the venue mid morning the outside tables are still wet, dirty, and sometimes have bird poo on them! We've decided to cease our long standing patronage; there's multiple venues located directly opposite which...
