What I love about The Cacao Project is that whatever the person tries is not just food, it's an experience you're living starting from your mouth and driving you somewhere else in time and space.
When one tastes your creations you can feel that there's a lot of work behind. From the care and attention that Mariagiulia puts in the details, in aesthetically recreating what she imagines through the colors and composition (she truly is an artist because she turns her desserts in works of art, you just wanna stare at them and contemplate their beauty), in finding the perfect combination, the right balance between the flavours and consistencies to the research, curiosity and even audacity that Pieter puts in experimenting with different tastes, consistencies and ingredients. All of this to create something unconventional, deliver something authentic, something unique so that the taster can recreate the moment he lived, he can feel the same emotions that Pieter felt in the first place and I must say, I don't know how, but he always manages to condense all these ideas, memories, flavours, precisely the way they are, in one tiny shell of chocolate which turns into an explosion of sensations in my mouth.
One can feel the passion that the Cacao project's team have for their craft, they don't take anything for granted, they enhance the simple and small things showing their beauty. It is truly rare to meet genuine, caring and passionate professionist like them who really wanna bring happiness and harmony to others.
To me, the Cacao project has it all. I highly recommend it, it'll be an...

this time we decide to try the breakfast menu, and unfortunately I need to warn you that the food is very disappointing. As an eggs Benedict enthusiast I had high expectations since the ice cream and cakes/treats are good. It was a BIG disappointment what we got, as they called eggs Benedict, the egg is just there on top of the tiniest sliced bread.
*It’s a shame they ask 25€ for what they offer: 2 slices of bread and 2 eggs without salmon or avocado or even the real Benedict sauce. The pictures talk by themselves.
*and by that I don’t pretend to criticize, just a honest review of a regular client that would like to come back and make the same order and having a better...

The owner is very friendly and was kind enough to speak with us and help us with our choices - and even kinder still to let us try a little sample. The chocolates comes in a wide array of traditional and less traditional flavours. Their appearance is impeccable with some being really eye catching. The textures are fantastic. The flavours are subtle (maybe a little too much so for my personal taste) but nevertheless distinctive. If I'm ever in Mechelen again then I will surely return...
