Shaganappi Mediterranean Market — Local services in Calgary

Great to have closer market and produce that serves South East and South West region. I used to shop from Shaggnappi market in the 17th or some other produce markets on NE if I in need for Mediterranean food or for reasonable priced fruits and vegetables. It is not big as I expected but I believe they have plan for expansion. The best thing that you can get freshly made Mediterranean pie (Manakeesh) coffee both are not expensive. Fresh vegetables and fruits and always you can find a good deal. I bought a pint of BC blue berries for 1.38 cents only while you find same size over three dollars easily in big super markets. Meat and dairy products are a bit expensive I belive . Many type of cheese to select. It seems this is family owned to me and most of the employees are from same family or relatives. All of them are nice, customer oriented, and greet you with a smile. It is family oriented and clean place. Hopefully we will get more selections in it, whether in groceries, vegetables, or meat (lower price off course) I would suggest to add more options in the bakery section freshly made such as kibbeh, fatayer,...

Good pricing for produce, eg. Bag of 5 avocados $3.79. Apples low price per lb too. Lots of lovely bakery treats.

The low rating is due to the cashier experience.

I bought a couple items, brought to FRONT of the till. She rings it up and moves the items to HER left, out of reach of me. I pay and she immediately picks up her cell phone to do whatever. (no other customers in line). I feel that staff using personal phone during business hours was unprofessional.

Since she picked up her phone and avoid eye contact, doesn’t help me to bag. I proceed to bag my own items. I disliked how she has no awareness how awkward and unhelpful it was to move my purchased items to her LEFT- far away from the FRONT of the counter. Making me move to my right and around the counter to reach far away for items. She could have easily passed them to me if she had an ounce of awareness or courtesy. Not helpful or friendly. Bad vibes.

Not likely to recommend this shop because of the unfriendly cashier. Please give her advice to be more helpful...

Have been anticipating the opening of this new location for a little while now. It was well needed.

Everything, from the layout , to the variety of product , décor , customer service and cleanliness was top tier. The smiles walking in and out made my experience all the more fantastic.

Was not expecting this. I was shocked to see how a family-ran , small, yet super busy, mediterranean market was able to operate at such a large scale at this second location.

Walked in there and felt like I was at some other big box retailer. The difference was they really capitalised on that Mediterranean touch.

10/10 recommend. Will blow your head out of its place to see how beautiful this new...
