I've been to 3 rooms from this franchise (The Minotaur Lair and The Sinister Study in the Southland location and Mutiny on the High Seas in the North East location) and all of them were an awesome and very fun experience! I've always loved adventure video games and these rooms capture beautifully the spirit of these games. The puzzles are diverse (we have mechanical, light, magnets, electricity, heat, etc. on top of the standard text and visual clues), very well thought out and sometimes with more than one clue. The solutions are not obvious - we've had to use Hints in all of my visits, but I think the difficulty balance is quite ok. The clues make sense in the plot narrative of the rooms (I've been to rooms where the clues are much more random - like pixel hunting, if I use my adventure video-game analogy). The staff is very friendly and helpful. In the last room we had a small technical issue (one of the clues wasn't working) but with the quick intervention from the staff, we could move on and "escape" successfully. Currently, all the remaining rooms in all 3 locations are on my bucket list - that's one very satisfied...
Read moreI beta-tested for The Great Train Heist Escape Room in a group of 10. The room is rated their most difficult. We completed it in a little over an hour (5-10 minutes over). We used 2 clues in total.
First, the location is a bit tucked away in the middle of the parking lot. I never went to their NE location, but this would be slightly more difficult to get to than their old location. When you enter, you are greeted by the staff. There is a location where you store your things in lockers and a large table where you can play board games while waiting. I saw people play Exploding Kittens.
Upon entering the room, I was floored by the decor. They spent a lot of time making it look authentic.
The clues were clever, but some things (paintings on walls, objects) could throw you off from your main goal. We overthought some clues, but eventually we got them.
The clues that incorporated technology (e.g. sound, weight) were cool, but the puzzle that used weight was a bit glitched and threw us off from the proper order of the puzzles we were suppose to solve.
Overall, it was excellent! I...
Read moreWe went here for my brother birthday, and had booked "The great train robbery". The staff was very friendly, the facility was clean and looked well kept up. This was my first locked room experience, so I didn't really know what to expect, I guess the room we choose had more logic type puzzles than most. Which some of the solutions to the logic puzzles were a bit of a stretch and we had to get some help for. I really enjoyed the searching and physical type puzzles more so than the logic puzzles. Our group was able to get the combination to the safe, but had some trouble with the lock itself, but the staff (Toni) was nice enough to get the key to bypass the safe lock to open it for us even through were were 2 or 3 min over our time. Everyone in our group had a great time and said we would for sure go back. To get that fifth star I suggest is to either have an introductory video or maybe a staff member dressed up in character specific to the room, to get more into the role of being "famous train robbers" and more...
