I never post 5's as who is perfect? certainly not the reviewer and unless your michelin rated neither are the establishments. It just such a small scale does cause inequities. I had a hunger for some chicken wings and having been disappoined with most of the places in the east end, saw somebody mention the wagon grill as having some good ones so I gave it a try.
The place is very small but clean and well laid out, you have a counter and a person behind it working the grill. The lady was very nice and most accomodating and had me wait a bit till the wings were finished properly, they charcol the wings then run them through an oven to get the right crisp, they are coated with a rub which adds a very nice flavour and matches well with the grilling. Talking to the lady I ordred a side of hot sauce for the wings, she also gave me the house hot sauce which is much hotter and has a great flavour.
The wings were all the 2 bone ones and had a nice size and lots of meat on them, no tips or drums, they tasted amazing probably the best wings I have ever had and for me that is saying somethings as i have been ordering wings for probably 40 years. The accompanying fries were good but I guess were frozen but way above any frozen I have had in the past, cooked perfectly.
They have a full menu of all kinds of delightful fare and I would suggest going there it is a real gem that is easily overlooked and it is rare to find quality and value in these current times, 20 huge wings and a massive portion of fries was only 27.00. I shall be...
Read moreThe food was pretty delicious was made fast ... but couple of issues... I'm not entirely sure they know what a Greek salad is lol I ended up with a salad that looked more like a wrapless shawarma none the less still pretty good but was more like lettuce cucumber tomato pickled cabbage white sauce instead of a salad dressing which hey still good lol so definitely not a Greek salad (which is generally mixed lettuce onions cucumbers olives (which I asked for the olives to not be on so I do believe would have been included, feta and balsamic dressing not a white sauce dressing )... now for the falafel wrap its self... thing was incredibly delicious only problem is instead of stuffing it closing the wrap and rolling it like most places do, they filled a small wrap and left it on the circular pita , making it messy and difficult to eat, as I said most places would generally stuff and tuck the ends in then roll the wrap to make it easier to eat and less messy... but overall food was great presentation and advertising leave something to be desired but if ur looking to change it up get some good food this place is...
Read moreI just wanted to reach out and say, we’ve been regulars since we’ve moved to the area years ago, but these past couple times we’ve ordered from Wagon Grill in 2024 have been incredibly pleasant experiences! The owners have always been very welcoming and extremely friendly from the moment I walk in the door. Prices are very reasonable. The food quality these past couple times has been absolutely outstanding! Rice is cooked to perfection, chicken is superb and great quality (no weird fatty bits like I’ve experienced at some shawarma spots). I don’t know what they do to the onions but they’re to die for. The garlic sauce and falafel is hands down best in the city (in my opinion) I am also a huge fan of the smaller pocket style fresh pitas they use. I know I am only one person, but please don’t change anything, and please keep doing what you’re doing. Your food brings us so much joy! There aren’t many places with this kind of passion left. To other customers - always a grape crush with your shawarma,...
