First time customer that will not be returning or recommending. Angry, disheartened and feeling ripped off. They clearly do not care about customer retention, or being compassionate human beings. Wanted to support local but apparently that was a mistake.
The short of it. Purchased a couch. Couch didnāt not fit by an extremely small margin through the door way. No way of knowing it wouldnāt have fit. Measured everything prior to and even asked if it would fit through a standard interior door prior to purchase. Delivery guys ended up taking the couch back with them. Now being told there is 25% restocking fee being deducted from the refund. For a couch that I was told they donāt give a floor model rate for because they go out as fast as they get them in. For reference itās a $2300 couch before tax.
While also being told there would be no restocking fee if we found something else from them that fit the space. This was the smallest sectional they had. If it didnāt fit, nothing else they carried was going to.
I realize itās is an inconvenience for the couch to come back. But a 25% restocking fee is excessive. Especially when I have already been told they sell fast.
Itās also a huge inconvenience for the couch to not fit. We knew we would be out some money but to be out over $600 and still need to find and purchase a couch along with all of the other furniture we have to replace after a flood. I planned to come back for other piece that needed to be replaced but that will not be happening now. Which is unfortunate.
Now the long of it.
Went in looking for a modular couch and made it known that the entryways into the house were tight. A modular sectional was recommended and was informed that many have been purchased for smaller spaces. Decided to go with the floor model as we lost all of our furniture in a flood and didnāt want to wait the 6 weeks. Upon delivery the back panel of the couch would not fit through the doorway once in the house by a 1/4 of an inch. The delivery drivers took the couch back with them and we were informed there would be a restocking fee and the $100 delivery charge would not be refunded. We felt this was reasonable until being told that the restocking fee is 25% of the cost of the couch. I fully understand there are costs involved in running a business but a 25% restocking fee is excessive. When you are purchasing any furnishing they are very helpful however if you are not totally happy once item is delivered too bad you signed the paper that's what you ordered (their reply is to call manufacture). I was told we would get a 5% discount , great!! I asked to have the 5% off the bill for the furniture we just purchased from they said no they would give us a card, once you fill the card up you can shop at either store for how much you collected on the card. They directed me downtown to buy small purchases to fill the card up. So I buy overpriced wine glasses, small things to fill up the card. My total amount I have to spend now 5% of all purchases is $400. I wanted to buy decorative items for the house ( I told I could do this at either store) The lady downtown informed me that I did not purchase enough items at her store so I can not use that card to shop there I have to use the discount store at Simply Home furnishing. I explained I was told I could come to either store, she said no it is messing up her books "you understand don't you" she tells me. Okay you have your rules that you changed but what I don't like is I was directed at your downtown store to up your sales, bought things I really didn't need but wanted to fill up my card and now you deny the card .
