My wife purchased shorts online for her elderly father, who is currently residing in a nursing home. According to the website, it was only to be 2 hours between order and pick up.

2 weeks later ... my wife contacted customer service, who advised her to just go to the store, even if the items she ordered were not available they could pick out similar items for her as alternatives. Upon arriving at the store, she was treat appallingly by the staff and the store manager Ryan (didn’t get his last name) who told her he would not honour her receipt and that if she wanted items they would have to be paid for.

I called the store myself, Ryan seemed reasonable at first, and told me he had advised my wife she would have to request a refund from e-commerce but would have to pay for any items received today (despite her receipt) she had just called me in tears saying he was yelling at her and treating her like a low life. I asked him for the name and number for us immediate manager, area or corporate which he flatly refused to give me.

I have contacted Giant Tiger customer service only to get a voicemail, with a promise of a call back.... maybe that will take 2 weeks too.

Appalling conduct by...

Awful customer service. We had to go to the cash to ask for someone to open the locked change rooms, because the bell from the desk was missing. The staff member paged someone to come.... but 10 minutes later, still nothing. Ourselves and two other customers started trying clothes on on top of our own clothes in the aisles. When that didn't work out well, I think everyone just left the clothes behind and didn't purchase.

At checkout, when we mentionned it to the staff, she said we should have rung the bell. We said it wasn't there. She said we should have come to the cash, she would have paged someone. We pointed out we already had -- we heard her announcement on the intercom-- and nobody came. She said we should have come back and she would've paged someone to come.

She was friendly enough, but she just was determined to somehow make it our fault that we couldn't get service at the change rooms -- that the waiting and looking for staff and waiting again and asking for help and waiting more was not enough work on our part. Not...
