I made an appointment at the spa, very excited for my first manicure in 2 years, and in need of some "me time" after a very busy period. The arrival at the spa went well, my manicure started, and everything seemed fine. Behind me were 2 ladies having a conversation about 2SLGBTQIA+ community and how open children are today compared to before. It was a perfectly objective conversation until my technician piped up out of nowhere expressing very distressing and polarizing opinions. This obviously made the other two uncomfortable, as they immediately switched conversations to their holiday plans. I tried to let it go, but the longer I sat, the more angry I became.

Not wanting to make a scene, I excused myself and went to speak to the two receptionists. They were amazing, seriously. They apologized, moved things around so I could come back that afternoon with a different technician and gave me a discount for my troubles. Both receptionists were wonderful, but a special mention needs to be made for Carol. Her professionalism, empathy, and general warmth/candor were amazing - honestly, I would go back just to see her.

We recently visited this spa for a celebration with a group of 8 girls, and I can confidently say it was one of the most incredible experiences we've ever had. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and pampered.

They thoughtfully decorated the space just for our celebration — every detail was beautifully arranged and added such a personal, festive touch. It was clear that a lot of care and attention went into making our visit special.

The accommodations for our group were seamless — not an easy task with 8 people, but everything was perfectly organized. We never felt rushed or overlooked. Each of us received individualized attention, and the treatments were simply exceptional. Every massage and service exceeded expectations — the therapists were professional, attentive, and incredibly skilled.

Though no facility is perfect, Spa St. James @ The Ritz Carleton normally offers a beautiful, enriching and ultra-comforting customer service.

However, the ugly crux here regarding deceit & duplicity, which is kept clandestine also from the classy & renowned Ritz-Carleton, is how owner Carol St-James solicits financial advances from loyal customers without following-up on her commitment to pay back, be it via procrastination tactics, bogus cheques and not replying to messages, etc...

Thus, the first paragraph in this review does not apply to those who were instrumental to Ms. St-James' move to the Ritz-Carleton several years ago. Accolades in the limelight are more than entitled by Ms. St. James but responsibilities, a minimal gratitude, acknowledgement and business etiquette are disavowed & repudiated beneath the mask of beautification.
