I was visiting Montreal from Toronto and I wanted to try Eggspectation before I left back to Toronto. We came in for breakfast and it was my birthday. I asked a lady at front if they do anything and she said she is new she will ask the other host and get back to me she didn't.
We were seated at the table near the part where the servers fill the jugs with water. We had an Indian server who started off nice and wished me happy birthday but then got rude later on. I asked for straws for the water and he only brought two straws when we were a table of 4 people. I had to ask for two more straws 4 minutes later.
I asked him if there is any complimentary dishes whether dessert or meal for my birthday he said no just a candle in my order and they sing happy birthday to me.
I wanted to order omlette with meat but I don't eat pork I said can you replace the pork for something he said no we don't do that.
After the meal the people I was with wanted take away containers as they didn't finish their meal he says there is a $.75 cents charge for take away containers..(first time in my life we had to pay for take away containers) so far no compensation for anything
When we were paying for the bills this is where he got rude.. it was my birthday and we got 4 bills and my friend wanted to pay for mine so she said let me pay for both bills separately and he said "why does it matter" she replied "it matters to me" because she wanted to keep track of what was being spent. That was rude of him to hesitate to honor the customers request.
So in summary, no birthday compensations, no replacing or modifying the meals if you don't eat a certain meat and you have to pay for take away containers because (the eggspectation cost to buy containers is too much and they can't afford to give it away for free) I won't be coming back to this location nor recommending it to...
Read moreExtremely horrible experience while visiting this spot. A few weeks ago we visited this spot while visiting montreal. It is safe to say that it was the worst experience ever! While placing our order, we ordered 2 cheese bagels. The server named Ranjan completely misheard our order and brought out something completely different from what we had ordered. Despite the total being $45 from the original $16 that it should have been, we didn't bother to argue about it. Nonetheless, the food was also horrible. The sandwich was clearly not don’t properly. When it came time to pay, things just got worse. Due to the fact that Ranjan messed up the order, we decided not to tip him. This is where things got messy. Ranjan was clearly not happy about not receiving a tip. He created a fuss about it and mentioned that we wouldn't get the same service next time due to the fact that we didn't tip him. Even though Ranjan messed up our complete order and brought out the complete opposite of what we had ordered, he felt entitled to receiving a tip. Even after addressing our concerns to the store manager, they decided not to do anything about it. They kept asking for a receipt that Ranjan did not give us as he knew that we would complain. The store manager was of no help either. The staff at this location are clearly not well trained and do not know how to behave. I would definitely not...
Read moreWe had a fairly large party (12 people) come in right after noon on a Wednesday during the Holidays. It took a while for us to get seated (which was to be expected).
Once we were seated, however, it took foreeeeeever for the servers to come get our order. After setting up the table and giving us the menus, it must have been a solid 10-15 minutes before they came around to ask us if we wanted coffee and/or drinks. Then another 5-10 for us to get our food order in.
By the time our food arrived (another 20 minutes later), half of us still didn't have our drinks. I ordered an Americano right off the bat when we sat down, and it only arrived halfway through we were done eating despite reminding the wait staff.
It wasn't a terrible experience, just a very long, slow, drawn out experience which culminated in mediocre breakfast food being served cold and leaving me with a profound impression of dissatisfaction. The fact that this place is more expensive than the other franchise-style breakfast places in the city (like l'Oeufrier or Cora) is also mind-boggling. I may be tainted by my whole experience, but the food seemed way less good than anywhere else.
All in all, I wouldn't go back here again, even if it was a practical option, but I also don't think it's the worst place you could go if you wanted a mediocre...
