We booked the Four Seasons for a 24 hour trip- the location is great. The experience was the worst I’ve ever had. Upon arrival to the hotel at 2:45pm the front desk explained that our room was not ready because we had arrived 15 minutes before check in began. We understood and sat in the lobby area to wait. After 30 minutes, the concierge asked if we would like a drink on the hotel, to which we asked for an update on the room. She said, “they are in there cleaning now. We were very busy yesterday and so the staff is behind. It will be another 10 minutes.” At 3:45pm, I explained to the concierge that we had a dinner reservation that we would miss if the room was not available soon- the young man called the housekeeper directly, and we were given an estimate of 10 minutes. Our room was not ready until 4:05pm. We were escorted upstairs by the gentleman, and entered what was an underwhelming room. It looked as if it was a rushed clean up job. We left for dinner, and upon return noticed that the room was further cleaned. More towels were added, more pillows, and a few bathroom items- along with a card and fruit tray from the housekeeping manager apologizing for the delay. We were perplexed by the mundane cleaning update as we were aware it was not the evening turndown service. We realized that these items were supposed to be in the room during initial arrival, but because of the rushed job, they were not. We arrived back to the hotel at 11:30pm. At this point the evening turndown service had been completed and there was another plate with chocolates waiting with another apology. The next morning we went to breakfast at Marcus Restaurant in the hotel. The service and food was below average. We watched as many tables around us received the wrong food, and then to no surprise our food was also placed on the wrong table. We ordered avocado toast, chia puddling, steak and eggs, and chicken and waffles. The only item meeting expectations was the chicken and waffles. The avocado toast and chia pudding were lacking flavor. The steak was tough and lacked flavor. We took one bite out of it. We wanted to return it, but were unable to locate our waitress and so it sat on the table. When she arrived and asked to take the plates, my partner replied, “yes, the steak was very tough, we did not enjoy it”- the waitress just looked and walked away. As we waited for the check, tables around us were continuously receiving the wrong food. The experience was lackluster at best. We decided that we no longer wished to be at the hotel, so instead of staying for late checkout we decided to depart at 11:30am. We were greeted and told to wait on the couches until the next person was available. The check out process seemed to be smooth. The woman who completed the check out asked if we had a car, and then realized the car was never charged to the room. She said, “you will have to go down to the S1 level to retrieve your vehicle and pay, I will walk you around the corner to the elevator” then said, “do you have bags?” And just stared as we said “yes.” My partner picked up our bags, and a table tipped over and cracked- we were then told by the manager that we would be liable for the table. We explained that in grabbing our bags with no assistance the table was knocked over, and at no point were we given assistance with the bags (the manager tried to insist that the woman offered assistance)- the manager agreed to look into as we waited 25 mins for our car to be retrieved since the woman sent us to the wrong location to receive the car. Overall the experience was beyond disheartening. We were a set of the few people of color in the hotel. It is hard to feel that this incident was not one of service inequality. We watched countless other people be attended to and treated with respect, which we did not receive. We received a mundane credit for the issues with service, and a liability issue as we were leaving the hotel, all due to a lack of equal service by the staff- no attention was made to make sure our stay was the same as those around us....
Read moreOverall, a solid stay at Four Seasons - Montreal.||Hospitality and service were impeccable, from the doorperson to the concierges to the servers. We were celebrating an anniversary and were surprised by a room upgrade and a complimentary drink in Marcus Samuelsson's MARCUS Restaurant + Lounge (which is beautiful!) while the change was made. We later received a lovely gift from friends, which included champagne and an absolutely scrumptious pastry wishing us a "happy anniversary." We were also able to get a slightly-later check-out on our last day (and were able to leave our bags to pick up on our way to the airport).||The suite, on the 12th (top) floor, was lovely--set-up was similar to the Conrad in Washington, DC and The Plaza Hotel in NYC. Thankfully we could not hear the sounds from either the nightly club downstairs or the wedding celebration on the Saturday. We heard a bit of noise from the room next door on that Saturday night (think it was used to house the childcare for said wedding), but thankfully my travel white-noise machine was able to cover it.||Generally loved the countertop space in the bathroom, the variable lighting schemes available and the button-controlled curtains (though sometimes wish for a guide or labels rather than trial-and-error for the latter two), the wooden room keys, and the walkability of this Four Seasons (close to convenience stores, pharmacies, cafes, restaurants, and sightseeing).||Some additional pros:|- Wifi worked well throughout the hotel, including the fitness facility/gym, which made my workouts that much smoother;|- Electrical outlets on both sides of the bed with bedside tables;|- Hair dryer, shower cap, loofa, various toiletries (wished these were unscented, as I tend to be slightly allergic to florals), robes and slippers available (would have preferred to keep the same slippers the entire stay to reduce waste); |- Complimentary boxed water and a water-bottle filling station in the fitness facility/gym;|- Complimentary coffee machine and hot-water kettle; |- Nightly turn-down included a filled ice bucket;|- Good-sized fitness facility with multiple treadmills (including a curved manual), ellipticals (two types), stair stepper, recumbent and upright cycling machines, weight benches and machines, free weights, and yoga mats;|- Umbrella was available to borrow (thankfully not needed!)||Only cons were in the bathroom: the temperature of the shower fluctuated during use (suddenly getting hotter or chillier) and the bathtub plug didn't fully...
Read moreMy husband and I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Four Seasons Hotel in Montreal, and it has undoubtedly become our favorite hotel in the world. The exceptional service began long before our check-in, as Marie-Jeanne, Dimitar, and Vash went above and beyond by providing insightful recommendations and assistance months before our visit.
Days before our trip, Dimitar kindly guided us to celebrate my birthday at Portus 360, arranging a last-minute reservation with an impeccable view of Montreal. Throughout our stay, Dimitar and his colleague showcased unwavering helpfulness, making our experience truly delightful.
The check-in and check-out processes were seamlessly handled by the courteous and efficient front desk team. Despite a small wait, the comfortable lounge made our brief delay inconsequential. The staff swiftly prepared our room, ensuring it was ready upon our return from lunch.
My interactions with the reservation team, particularly Elizabeth and Natalie, were incredibly positive. They promptly attended to all our needs, arranging for a mini fridge in our room at a moment's notice through the diligent efforts of the engineering team.
The housekeeping team excelled in their attention to detail, anticipating our needs and adding thoughtful touches to our room, from glass cleaner wipes for our eyeglasses to keeping us hydrated with additional water.
Breakfast at the hotel's restaurant was a culinary delight, complemented by a relaxed atmosphere and impeccable service.
The lounge, where the affable David from the front desk ensured our VIP entrance and secured a perfect table, offered a remarkable experience with a fantastic DJ, delightful mocktails, and attentive servers.
The doormen, with their warm hospitality and refreshing gestures, epitomized the high standard of service throughout our stay. The spa, though not experienced this time, was accommodating and eager to assist, embodying the hotel's commitment to guest satisfaction.
The pool, steam room, and sauna were meticulously maintained, adding to our overall sense of luxury and relaxation.
In conclusion, our stay at the Four Seasons Hotel in Montreal surpassed all expectations. The dedicated team ensured every aspect of our visit was flawless. We eagerly look forward to returning to Montreal and relishing another exceptional stay at the Four Seasons. Highly...
