Cataraqui Centre — Local services in Ontario

Hey, I'm the fella who got mugged out front of Guess Services Tuesday March 26th, 2024. I was eye gouged from behind by a disgruntled patron who was mad I took the wrong tea order at Tim Hortons. I apologized and Tim Hortons offered to make a fresh one for his partner who had done the ordering. He then followed me in the mall, ran up behind, placed his hands like claws to try and gouge at my eyes from behind. Fortunately I wear glasses so he jerked them off my head, pulling my neck back and then tried to destroy my glasses. Long story short, security and later police were involved. Security assured me he would be banned from the mall for 2 years. I was also assured the mall management team would have no interest in talking to me and they would not replace my glasses so there was no point in inquiring. The people at Lenscrafter were very kind and twisted my glasses back together as best they could. I was very rattled by this experience and then was disheartened when the same man was in the mall the next day making purchases like nothing happened. My biggest concern now is that being on a spectrum myself and working with vulnerable people and people with intellectual disadvantages the mall is no longer a safe space. In my last few visits I have seen vagrants smoking, eating out of the trash and approaching patrons in the parking lot for money. In good conscious I feel this needs to be publicly known as I can longer consider Cataraqui Centre a safe space for Vulnerable...

Security in the past have been overbearing & weird. Ruined it for me completely. Plus the info booth people are ill-informed. Acquiring a monthly bus pass was impossible. Had to buy tickets instead. I have acquired PTSD from how some of the security & kiosk staff & some store staff have treated me in the past. The previous security staff(last summer) swarmed me for no reason almost ran I am a paying customer. Last time I was there, I had one new security person keep spare me. Security had Me arrested for trespassing when I wasn't even in the mall. I was on a bus heading home to my tent. I lost quite a lot while encarcerated. My property ended up going missing from a locker @ the station. The Hudson's Bay Company is wonderful as always. Impeccable really. Clean & lovely staff. Shoppers drug mart pharmacy staff are wonderful & professional. I do not approve, however of the attitudes in the Beauty Department. They were extremely suspicious. The sundry kiosk is wonderful. Great selection. Dollar store in the basement is wonderful. Plus there is a. Bitcoin changer machine that changes your Bitcoin currency to cash for an exchange rate in the hallway en route to the washrooms on the second floor. Thanks Cat Centre for improving since then! The road at the mall is not safely maintained in the winter! A couple of weekends ago my son, while driving slowly, slid through a curve/stop sign into a bus there! THREE other vehicles did the exact same thing at the same spot but instead hit the snowbanks since the undamaged bus had left by then. Many spots, including this curve/stop sign were glare ice, which is shocking considering this is a major city bus transfer point and the only road to the library. We could barely even walk on the road. My son fell and hit his head just trying to walk across it. On our way out of there we slid the whole way down the hill to the lights at Gardiners Road!
