I went to this food basics yesterday to use their Coinstar machine that they have acquired through their partnership with Coinstar to get 3$ in dimes turned into loonies. And after silently and patiently waiting for almost 1 and a half hours with almost next to no word exchange. I was told I would have to walk home and wait for a couple of hours to get my 3$ back. Even though the machine had said âDonât worry, your money is safe with us. Please get a store employee. In which no employee knew how to help me. And the manager only stopped by 1 time to say âYou got this?â To the one lady helping me. And to shake his head no at the other lady that was on the phone with Coinstar when she was asked to go to a cash and she said she was helping me out. It took the other employee saying she needed her help for him to let her help. I was then offered a 6$ bag of milk instead of my 3$. Which makes no sense to me, as I was using their coin machine. Not a milk machine. Which this led to being told they were just going to go grab the milk for me even though I said no. And then when the manager finally came over, he cut me off every time I spoke and demanded I let him speak. He acted as if I was not the victim in this scenario. And I have worked for food basics in the past in the Ottawa locations. In which this problem never existed. We were all trained ahead of time with a book at the front customer service desk at all times. And I never had a problem requesting my management to pop the till open and give the amount to the customer if we needed a technician. In which they would simply report it on their slips at the end of the night. And it never caused hassle. Customer service is gone now a days and your store is putting a bad name out there for a good company who is actually trying to do good for society with their lowered and locked prices. I hope something gets done about this. Whether itâs customer service training for the management involved (his name was Tony) or a re training on the Coinstar machines. But this has disgusted me and many others on Facebook groups around Kingston. Customer service has an impact. And it really impacted me yesterday. I do not recommend this location until something...
Read moreI recently had the opportunity to visit the Food Basics Princess Street location, and I would like to share my experience with others. It is essential to provide feedback, whether positive or negative, to help maintain and improve the quality of service provided by businesses.
My visit to this Food Basics store left me with mixed feelings. While I appreciate the convenience and variety of products offered, I encountered some challenges during my shopping experience.
Firstly, I faced difficulty in locating several items on my shopping list. Despite seeking assistance from a customer service representative, I was met with indifference and unresponsiveness. I firmly believe that prompt and helpful customer service is a fundamental aspect of any retail establishment.
Additionally, I encountered a pricing discrepancy at the checkout counter. One of the products I purchased was priced differently than what was displayed on the shelf. While I understand that errors can occur, it is essential that such issues are addressed with professionalism and courtesy. Regrettably, I found the response from the store staff in this instance to be lacking in both respects.
As a customer, I value efficient service, clear pricing, and respectful communication. My recent experience at Food Basics Princess Street did not fully meet these expectations, which is why I have rated my visit accordingly.
I hope that this feedback is taken constructively, and that steps will be taken to address these concerns and enhance the overall shopping experience for future customers. I believe in the potential of Food Basics to provide excellent service and look forward to the possibility of experiencing an improved visit...
Read moreI have no problem with staff or the store itself, I've never had a bad experience with either, but honestly, they're ALWAYS OUT OF SO MANY COMMON THINGS! Last time I went in with a list of 22 items. FIVE (5) items were either not in stock at all or not the size I wanted! (I'm not yelling. All caps for emphasis) 1.Extra lean hamburg (on sale). Had to replace with more expensive product. Coca-Cola! (none of that size) Irresistibles liquid drink mix. (none of the flavour I wanted) Irresistibles aluminum foil (none in the size I wanted. Again only more expensive available) Hallowe'en candy in the smaller 50 piece size. To replace would have cost almost 10$ extra!! (now I have no candy for the kids! Never happened before!) If this were an occasional thing I wouldn't mind but EVERY SINGLE TIME I shop there I have to go w/out what I need or replace it (usually with something more expensive). I'm a disabled senior and shopping is a real difficulty (I know there are delivery services but it's way to expensive for my budget!) so when that many products aren't available it means I go without completely or have to make another trip. I live less than 5 minutes from the store~that's why I shop there. But honestly it's incredibly...
