Honestly, I wanted to like this place so much... But this is what happened: it was my birthday.... I called to reserve a spot for 4 adults and 2 kids for a saturday evening. Was told that it's not a problem and that it's reserved. Upon arrival, we were greeted with complete surprise and not in a good way. It was like we were a nuisance. Then we discovered there are no kids chairs available. No biggie... I brought my own and strapped it onto the chair, all the while getting weird looks. Then we had what was one of the strangest experiences in terms of service. We got no plates. We had to ask for cutlery for those of us who don't use chopsticks (a 4year old and a 2 year old) we got forks with an eye roll. Then we ordered our food and it was all right, until we all got the same exact rolls. 2 people ordered 2 different meals and had the exact same lame rolls on it. California roll and a sweet potato roll (not sure who invented that, but it's not that appetizing). My husband orders the meal with 15 pieces of sashimi, which is cut wrongly (He had all the muscle in the salmon) and tuna, which was definitely defrosted or something, as it was coming apart at the sides and looking very pale. And of course the famous Cali roll and sweet potato roll. Hand rolls were okay, but that was about it. We had to ask for water refills, had to get my own napkins and every time we had a question - I personally got the feeling that we were a bother. There were 50 items on the menu, and yet we all got served the same Cali roll and sweet potato roll. The miso soup.... no spoons, barely any seaweed and zero tofu... fried ice cream was great though! We wanted to order tea but like I said.... it felt like we were a bother so we just left. We didn't even cut the birthday cake we brought in. I don't think I will be back again.... We paid 200$ with tip for our meal and I frankly was really disappointed. I guess I expected more than that in terms of service and in...

I moved to Kingston from Ottawa a year ago and have been craving a good AYCE sushi place. With 12 months of no luck I finally tried Sakura which i was recommended against trying. I was satisfied enough with Sakura, classic AYCE/tablet/franchise experience, but really missed the high quality Sushi I used to enjoy in Ottawa. I also missed the menu selection.

My boyfriend told me Sapporo had the best sushi he had ever tried but he wasnt sure if they had AYCE. Well they do have AYCE and it was better than any sushi I've ever tried in Ottawa or Kingston. The atmosphere is amazing. It's a small restaurant with an extremely small kitchen (only 1 person working in it in the couple of hours we were there - the owner) and the sushi is SO FRESH and prepared with some mega TLC. The owners are extremely sweet and will remember your face after you've visited 5 or 6 times. (As a server...I rarely recognize repeat customers so for the owners to do this is incredible)

The owner/sushi chef also was very attentive to the customers and their specific needs. He was cooking the sushi meals to order and judging the table sizes for portions. I cant think of any restaurant that gives this type of personalized service. It's a win for everyone. We dont feel awful about wasting food or being charged for AYCE and the restaurant creates less waste (cutting costs/saving environment.)

If you get a chance to chat with the owners- TAKE IT. They are willing to teach you a bit about fish/sushi and the freshness and he explained his ordering process to us. We will be regulars from now on and if you're a sushi lover in Kingston and have never been to Sapporo then you are...

We had the same experience as another reviewer. Our family (we are Chinese) was not treated well by the lady owner, she seemed to like and be super friendly with the white family eating at the same time - there were no other customers eating in. She seemed impatient and annoyed with us from the moment we ordered to the anytime we asked to order additional food, umm … okay, sorry for inconveniencing you? When it was time for the bill she punched in some numbers on cash register (could not see what she was pressing) the register does not have a display on customer side … she told me my total - I asked her for an itemized bill so I could check as we ordered a lot and of course this really irritated her. I understand that small business like to cheat on taxes and not punch in the sale, but still! …eventually she reluctantly hand wrote the bill on a form that was photocopied. We did not leave a tip. I did not feel she deserved it. The food was okay, but not outstanding. We won’t be back. Disappointing because we are actually a nice family that usually tips really well. If you are a white family you will be treated like royalty, if you’re not - save the aggravation and go...

This sushi spot is a GEM. It may seem like a tiny hole in the wall just outside of downtown Kingston/Queen’s campus, but it is truly AMAZING. My family and I are avid sushi eaters. We frequent all you can eat joints so often that we KNOW what’s good and what’s not. SAPPORO SUSHI IS THE BEST! Everything, and I do mean *everything*, tastes homemade and fresh. Even their tempura is fresh, not those pre-battered frozen shrimps or soggy chunks of yam tempura like other AYCE places. We’re from Toronto, stumbled upon this place while moving my sister into university, and hands down we agreed we’d all come back (from 2 hours away) to eat at this place! The owners, Mark and Karen, we’re delightful: hilarious, sweet, and generous when it came to serving our family. I recommend: DYNAMITE ROLL, SAPPORO ROLL, BULGOGI BEEF, SHRIMP TEMPURA, ALL THE SASHIMI & NIGIRI Mark and Karen, I hope you see this — we’ll be back :)

Great food and fresh!! We've been in Kingston for 4years and it's our first time to visit this place. The place is quit small (4 tables only) but the couple that own it is so friendly and very accommodating. My husband and I order 2 king meals(all you can eat) but I just eat only sushi (20pcs) and the guy owner went to our table and told me that I only eat sushi so I should paid the Queen meals which is 5dollar less. We are shocked at first but we are very please because they are very attentive in our orders❤️❤️we are so happy we try to visit this sushi place. I recommend this place. We just sad Aswell because we are moving in Ottawa so probably our first and last sushi. Will see if this coming days before Friday we can stop by and eat again. Thank you Sapporo sushi😊

Best sushi place in Kingston. Picture is the Queen, which is $20. You can split this with a friend, get it yourself, or upgrade for $5! and get a King which then is all you can eat. Ridiculous. The sushi QUALITY is what matters here, the family doesn't just pack rice into you here like at some of the other restaurants in Kingston. They have a humble look from the outside but they are a hole in the wall. Substitute the California roll for spicy salmon in the Queen and your day is made. The chef is very accommodating. If you're not into the typical rolls, they're chicken teriyaki makes AMAZING leftovers and the dup baps are if you love traditional Korean/Japanese dishes (my favourite is unagi, pictured).
