As you can see a staff member reached out to me and stated for me to come in and see the manager Tim. Since it was a long weekend and I wasn't in town I will call and see when Tim is in and get out there this week to see him personally. Once I'm done and whatever happens I will edit my review! If it is negative or positive it'll be done. Since they reached out I am sure they are willing to help me out in some regard. I'm sure the one star will go up, they have always been good in the past so I'm not sure what happened with this incident but I do have faith with Forest City Surplus. May 18, 2018
I go here all the time instead of Home Hardware or Canadian Tire and I enjoy it.
Usually I great things and I have bought Android boxes, led signage, window air conditioners and portable ones as well as industrial fans, man cave items, remote controls for Kodi or Android boxes and most known for any kind of Duct Tape or any kind at that and anything else in between.
I have spent thousands of dollars in the store. Recently I bought a Pyle Dash Cam which I have other products of and never an issue however this is not working. I tried to hook it up and no power, took it to a mechanic to hook it up and he couldn't get power to either, so either I had a horrible mechanic or it's the camera itself.
You are supposed to also be able to hook it up to your computer via USB or by power and it's not turning on. I tried to take it back however I guess it was on clearance and when it's on clearance it's yours and NO 👎 CREDITS OR EXCHANGES.
However if a product is not not working then they should still have to have the responsibility of taking it back and exchange it at least. They don't allow you in store to see if it works and I didn't even know it was it on clearance until I tried to return.
I know normally they're usually good with help. I know they have their policies in place for a reason but all I asked if they can see if maybe we are doing something wrong and if they are able to get power to it. There is no videos on YouTube or anywhere on the internet and there was no instructions in the box so I called the company which is Pyle and they tell me to take it back to the seller as it was under 30 days and I told them the seller said sorry sir it was on clearance.
Very disappointing is all I can say I will take my business elsewhere and spend it. I know people know me there I have a good relationship with most employees I have talked to managers or assistant and the one manager Adam I normally talk to I haven't seen or he hasn't been in. He would know on how much I have spent in this store just on surveillance cameras over $1,000.
Anyways just a upset customer who spent $56.44. And now I have something that will never work so now I can use it as a paperweight or spray paint it and have it as a pet cam.
From now on I don't care if it's a surplus store or a store like say Factory Direct or any discounted store if there's a way to check to see if it works I am going to check to see if it works. I'm annoyed with it not working and all you can get is either a store credit, Exchange or 0 nada zilch zero or my case a new paperweight or spray paint it and have a pet cam.
SAD THING IS THEY STILL HAD ONE (1) UNO IN THE DISPLAY CASE.
I hope maybe the Manager will reach out to me and come to some kind...
Read moreI frequently go to this store for a number of reasons they have pretty much everything. I have been going there for years and have never had a bad experience. Until I went there two weeks ago on a Sunday I went through. The market and I had a very small bag with a small package of meat and. A bone for my dog I know they have a no bag policy but I thought that. Only ment larger bags or backpacks well when I went in the staff said it wasn't allowed.
I didn't see the point to that since it was a very small bag that contained food. I was not allowed to bring it in the store I was asked to hand it to staff. That made me very uncomfortable since that was my food in that bag. And Not really into strange people touching my food so I shopped and went. To the counter to pay and ask for my food the staff member picked it off the dirty floor. Where they constantly walk back there I was not impressed at all and spoke to the staff member. He basically acted like he didn't care and was rude about it.
All of a sudden another man got involved I thought he was a customer. Turns out he was the store manager he was even more rude and very confrontational. He acted very unpleasant and unprofessional raised his voice. And basically treated me like a dirt bag ask me to leave the store and not come back. I understand that I was upset but would you be ok with a bag of meat. That was your dinner was put on a very dirty floor where people walk on it all day????
Probably not so if they would have put a little more effort and put it on the side of the counter. I wouldn't have been so upset and especially they way the staff acted. Like they didn't care about it and were very rude especially the manager. Who clearly has no skills in conflict resolution or any people skills. Why should I be ok with being treated like that? And also why should I be ok with being kicked out of a store that I regularly shop at?
So I tride to call and complain again the staff basically acted like they didn't care. And the person was rude to me then when I asked how I make a complaint. Or a number to call the owner I was told the owner doesn't take complaints. He only reads the reviews lol there is no professionalism there. He said you can't just leave a review and hung up on me which is a great. Way to treat a customer who just simply wanted to know how to make a complaint. So here you go I wanted to handle this problem privately but was not.
Given an opportunity so now its on here for the whole world to see hopefully the owner can. See this and at least comment on my review instead of a simple phone call. Definitely not happy with this whole experience it's a shame you have to treat your...

They do not deserve the one-star unfortunately in order to leave a review you have to select at least one star but they do not deserve even that.
I enjoy going to this store but it is often very stressful for me to go I do you have a medical device that I wear 24 hours a day 7 days a week every day of my life my life literally depends on this device and I carry it in my backpack and I cannot be separated from this because my life literally depends on this and this store even though I've explained this to them and shown them they do not let me keep my backpack on that is holding the medical device they tell me if I want to shop I need to leave my backpack that is carrying this behind their counter and forcing me to carry this medical device in my hands and bringing tons of attention to me and people staring at me trying to figure out what this strange device I'm holding is. In my opinion this is discrimination and this store and their employees should be ashamed of themselves and they need to seriously reconsider this policy. If I ever go back to this store and I'm forced to remove my backpack that is carrying this medical device and I'm humiliated by all the stairs and questions I get asking what that strange thing is I'm holding I will absolutely be going to a lawyer and filing a case of discrimination against this store there is absolutely no reason for them to do this I should not have to be humiliated like this simply because I want to go into their store to buy something. I also have a service dog and have been told I am not allowed to bring my dog into their store a couple of times because the employees on those specific days clearly did not know what a service dog was or the rights are as a service dog handler I have to bring my dog wherever I go because it is a medical necessity. Bottom line this store is not very welcoming or friendly to people with disabilities they are very fast to discriminate and say no you cannot to whatever the situation to people with disabilities the store should be ashamed of themselves and absolutely needs to update their policies in terms of backpacks and inform their employees of service dogs what they are and the rights of service dog handler to have my dog with me they are setting themselves up for a lawsuit and if I am every back in this location and discriminated against like this I will absolutely be seeking legal help and bringing a lawsuit against them for discrimination.
