A "higher end" grocery store with gift items with ready made food. Most staff are friendly and helpful. Depends on the time of day, year and how busy. They sometimes seem overwhelmed. Cashiers are rarely that way. Very friendly, attentive and best of all....when it is busy...ALL lanes are open....unlike across the street. You can purchase just one fruits or vegetable and it is not all prepackaged! Their produce and meats last longer in ther fridge without going bad and taste better. They offer the freshest of flowers and Reo Thompson chocolates from Stratford. They ha 've a lovely bakery area that sell out quickly and is restocked the next day. Sometime there is too much packaging on items. I love their date cookies. But way too much packaging for only 3 cookies so I go without. When they re-package them in a better way, I will consider them again. Also have a great cheese counter and a dairy section that has my favourite yogurt flavour - coffee! I will not go in close to a holiday. Parking is impossible!! Only venture in about a half hour before close so that I can easily get around to get my items. It is a very popular spot and more expensive than others...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been going to Remark since basically the day it opened. Back then it was with my mom as I was a kid, and now I shop here often with my own son. In all that time I have never had a bad experience in the store, nor have I ever purchased a poor quality product. The staff are always friendly and helpful and the food quality is superb. I find produce from Remark generally lasts longer than produce from other grocery stores.
I had always considered Remark to be on the pricier side as it is a more "boutique" style grocery store/market, but I have been pleasantly surprised with the pricing the last few years given the rapid pace of inflation and shrinkflation encountered in other larger grocery stores.
Remark really shines on the prepared foods as well, where instead of paying $16+ at a salad place, you can get a very comparable fancy salad at Remark for

I was in Remark this morning grabbing some fruit and pre-made salads for lunch. I overheard a female manager/supervisor speaking very rudely to one of the younger male associates (stocking shelves), but loud enough for passerbys to overhear conversations. I'm unsure what he was being reprimanded for, but she did make a comment about him being low-income and should be thankful for the job. I found it tacky and lacking class. What's worse, is that I felt this young man was on the brink of tearing up. How dare this woman talk down to him and make him feel less-than because he doesn't fit her "ideal" of who is worthy of respect and courtesy (based on SES)? How could this possibly be type of values supported by Remark? It's 2020.
While the food might be good, I was appalled by such treatment. Classist, condescending, and rude. I will definitely be sharing my sentiments with my colleagues and...
