Confession: this review may be biased! Dessart sees me during the summer months way too much. Their staff ice cream creations marry flavours in ways that seem cooky, but work! Asides from that, they carry candy from all over the world (even 5LB Gummy Bears!) and pop/soda flavours you won't find in the grocery store (pops /sodas can be a bit pricey). Plus if you're looking for a quick gift they sell sarcastic fridge magnets, coffee mugs, and even Mr. Rodgers pins! I love this place. Mere minutes from home, we regularly walk by while taking the dog for a stroll. The energy is great, the exterior is well-maintained and vibrant, the staff are a joy to deal with (and never have a problem opening the window to sell us a massive soft-serve cone for Ben), and the interior is a perfect little slice of the classic candy-store archetype. The prices seem to be a bit higher than I'd expect (the material cost of soft ice cream/machine maintenance/staff wages doesn't convince me that a large cone should be just under $7), but it's a local business and I'm glad to support it.
