I love the burgers and poutine. I think both are the best in the city and the burger is not full of fillers in the meat like the mainstream burger chains. I also don't feel sick after eating.
Since my original post, we went back on a Sunday April 14th to have breakfast. My family had breakfast and I had a burger and poutine.
First of all, loved walking in to hear my kind of music being played...Bob Dylan, Neil Young, etc.
Wasn't too long of a wait. But my poutine arrived cold. The curds weren't even melted. Cold fries and gravy. This was not good at all.
My burger was still good but the bun was burnt and the bacon was almost burnt. It was busy there, which I can understand but the cold poutine was a real turnoff.
Then before we left, the overzealous Asian lady was rudely taking all of our condiments before we were done. We had a stack of clean unused napkins and she took them and threw them out on top of the dirty dishes!
She was also cleaning the table of a couple with children and getting in their way before they could leave. I've never seen anything like it before. Clean the table after people leave, not before.
I don't think I would go back on a...

I’m happy to make my 1st ever post of the Mercury Cafe & Grill. I ordered a Patty Melt with fries ($19.50).
I will admit, I was a little surprised to find that my burger didn’t come between a sliced bun but rather between two pieces of toast. My dumb ass didn’t read the entire description 😂
This meal consisted of their homemade beef patty, with Swiss cheese and fried onions. At first bite, you can TASTE that it’s a home made patty. I’m impressed. Even their Swiss cheese was good quality. It was perfectly cooked to the point I was literally pulling melted cheese with every bite. Then to add onto it, you get home cut fries tossed in seasoning salt.
The ONLY gripe I had was the price. I personally feel it’s expensive for what you get.
The service was not as attentive as I would have liked but when we interacted with staff it was very pleasant. I should point out, we were 1 of about 10 tables between 2 waitresses and 1 busser.
But honestly, I highly recommend this establishment. I wouldn’t order a burger patty between toast again, but you can guarantee I’ll be back for a burger patty between...
Read moreHmm. Rated very high and love 50s Diners so excited to see... Atmosphere.. well... one booth behind us had two men swearing, the booth tucked in the corner had a baby crying, a drunk lady came in and sat at the counter and couldn't contain her colorful language. One waitress seemed to talk over her coworkers loudly at the counter so everyone heard their conversations all while the music was blaring late 60s- early 70s? music..
Other than the chrome, checkered floor and red touches that's about all felt 1950s.
Burger was tasty.. toasted bun a bonus.. hardly any lettuce, shredded.. ugh.. not a classic move.. 9 onion rings not all big either. Hmm.. extra $4.50 for the rings.. expected the plate to be fuller..
Hubby had a Hotdog.. thought there was onions listed.. none on it.. and condiments next to nothing..
Disappointed not even a classic Reuben Sandwich on the menu..
Overall, glad it was checked off my list of places to go. Food was good.. just not great and definitely did not match the $$$ price tag.
Bubble bursted. Waitress Hann was great. Piece of gum and...
