Dear Fresco,

(Foodland in sheeps clothing)

By my comment you can imagine what I’ve witnessed as a resident of this area in the last 12 years who has seen horrible customer service. I thought it was gone when Foodland shut down. But today was a repeat by something so ridiculous that I’ve decided to do this review to Foodland in sheeps clothing called Fresco. Fresco is welcome to review my past situations and they will know that abuse comes in so many forms but this is theft they are committing against an elderly client and considered FRAUD.

As a client to you’re grocery store it’s your responsibility to ensure ALL your products HAVE EXPIRE DATES, end of discussion.

As a caregiver who buys items for an elderly person, YOU NEED TO HAVE EMPATHY IF I DON’T HAVE A RECEIPT!!! You came into our neighbourhood asking us to trust you and we did until now. I brought back an item that ONLY Fresco carry’s in the area that DOESN’T have an actual expire date on it. I asked for a straight exchange.

Cashier says “I’ve helped in the past and was told off about it” who tells people off in todays day and age. Isn’t that against the employment standard act?

Cash Manager says, “That’s wrong, this should have never happened or been sold like this and we need to do better” thank you so much for recognizing this.

Met the store manager or shift manager I’m unsure. Date is 11/09/22 @4:30. I wish I had my phone to record her saying “No we can’t do anything without a receipt.” Lady is 5’5 with black glasses and black hair. At this time there should be no question. THERE IS NO EXPIRE DATE. DO BETTER!!!

Selling products without that information. With all the government info about expire dates and the media about THIS specific issue needs grocery stores to take responsibility for incidents like this.

When we had our black outs I never brought back the fish that rotted in my freezer. I said goodbye to $100 worth of meats and produce. But you can’t replace a chick pea salad that has no expire date.

Finally the manager agreed to a straight exchange WARNING ME to have the receipt next time. As a caregiver I don’t keep the clients information on hand sorry so please continue to warn me. Please note TNT is here. This neighbourhood hated Foodland. You’re a subsidiary of Empire. Fresco Foodland...

This store became my first go-to because of its closeness therefore convenience, however what I really like about it is the wide selection keeping in mind all walks of life living in this area. I haven't experienced this much diversity in foods nearby before they moved in. A real Torontonian multicultural vibe. If you are like me, and love to experience different ethnic flavors, this place is great for it. The produce section, my most favorite, is as fresh as you can get from a store. The products are ranging from budget-friendly with lots of savings to a price that reflects one treating themselves with something more than just basic foods. To top that up, the owner, Juvenal, is always present and involved, unlike many owners. I have seen him around but until today I never knew he was the owner. Today I was compelled to ask for a favor or make a suggestion so that shopping there would be an absolute 5 stars experience and he was immediately willing to accommodate my need. As a result I spent almost $100 even though initially I only wanted to buy coffee and green onion. By the way the Kimbo Coffee 250g at $4.99 is an amazing find. My total savings today was $18.52 I call it a win-win! Also I want to mention Shruti, the Front Store Supervisor, who looks like she's home at work. I mean she truly enjoys working here; it is obvious. Nothing seems to be too much for her. She's always happy to help with a genuine smile on her face which also makes me feel home when I shop here. The respect the owner and his employees have for one another must be one of the main reasons that the atmosphere is so relaxed here. To Juvenal: Thank you so much for your open-mindedness, down to earth attitude and genuine care for your emplyees and customers! To Shruti: Thank you so much for your real smile and great service always! To Madhavi: Thank you so much for saving me with my groceries tonight. You were incredibly capable to handle everything smoothly and efficiently only 15 min before the store closing. Your kindness is out of this world! Be...

For a new place, this location really lets down the freshco name. I can’t help but notice management has not addressed the concerns on here. That’s a telling sign of not caring. Fruits and veggies in this store are not as fresh as they could, or should, be. It’s ironic, a company that calls themselves “FRESHco” can’t even provide fresh produce.

Purchased a veggie platter that was marked as reduced, which was ok as it was to be eaten that day. Sadly, 15 minutes after purchase, opened the platter to find the most disgusting slimy carrots and soft sour tomatoes and dry celery.

I’m aware of the reduction in price because the expiry date is close, but this platter was sold having already expired, a few days before. Either this is poor work ethics, lazy management, or simple dishonest thievery.

Management was nice but seemed rushed to return to work instead of offering adequate reassurance for me to return to this “store”. The only reason I’m not giving 1 star is the store manager was at least polite and understanding. However, as a recently opened store, it should not be left to potential customers to test your products. You should only sell what you can stand behind.

This area deserves a better grocery store and foodland is closing. Interesting that foodland is recommending customers to shop at this location. Hmmmm. Seems there’s a behind the scenes agreement there.

I hope management rolls up their sleeves and makes a better commitment to what the essence of this company is supposed to be..... unless fresh means expired, inedible, rabbit food. (that most rabbits would probably walk away from).

I’m lucky I can drive to the other stores in the area that have been consistent, but the people who are only able to shop here should really be careful. Check the produce before you buy anything. I’ve seen other reviews with the exact same complaint. Seems there’s a trend going on in this store of selling spoilt food. You can have the best parking and location but if you sell rotten food, you’ve lost me as a...

This store location needs improvements they should train their cashier properly and teach them how to treat their customers nicely and professionally. Today I came to buy groceries and I need to separate the bills because my friend ask me to buy her groceries so I wanted it to separate her bill and when I was about to pay the cashier “Shahad refused to receive my money $50 bill her reason she don’t have change and she don’t want to give me the $5 bill because she said she needs it, so I was upset and I told her so what should I do now, why you’re not giving me a change should I leave the items and not purchase it? When I raised my voice she said don’t yell at me, which is I didn’t and when I ask her again why you don’t want to use the change you have she said okay I give you whatever I have then she opened the till and I saw she has a lot of change and I told her ow you have a lot of change why you refuse to change my money.. and she didn’t ask my scene so that I can get my discount.. was very horrible experience, even this store so close to me I hesitated to come to shop here coz of this cashiers most of them are rude, they think they are the boss they don’t know how to respect customers, sometimes when you ask something that you can’t find they just tell you the aisle number and they don’t bother showing it to you, I would say this store is not customer friendly most of the people working here are rude they need seminars..they need training how to treat customers.

I’ve visited this store enough times to write a review. While the location is convenient, there are several recurring issues that deserve attention: On a few occasions, I’ve noticed discrepancies between the advertised discounts and the prices charged at checkout. When I’ve pointed this out, staff often seem unaware and need to send someone to the aisle to verify. As a customer, it’s unreasonable to have to double-check every single price/discount myself, this should be accurate and consistent. The scales in the meat section have appeared unreliable on a few occasions. I’ve attached a photo showing two nearly identical packages, yet the one on the right is clearly overstated in weight. This kind of inconsistency raises concerns about pricing accuracy. Not all, but many of the cashiers don’t greet customers or make any effort to be courteous. There’s often no smile, no eye contact, and little to no interaction. While I understand that working in retail can be demanding, a basic level of friendliness and professionalism should still be expected to create a more welcoming environment. I once purchased a baked item that, upon opening shortly after leaving the store, was already covered in large patches of green mold, despite being well within its printed expiry date. It was clear the mold had developed before I bought it. This raised concerns about food safety and how well items are being checked before being put on the shelf.
