The first time I noticed Gems By Jael, I was a new mom with a very sick baby. My curiosity as to why there would be a jewelry store in a children’s hospital drew me into the store on a day when I was trying to distract myself while my daughter was having a procedure. Five minutes in the store, and I had my answer! The store was bright, sparkly, and clean. I was greeted by a staff member who was warm and personable, knowledgeable and articulate, but not at all pushy. It was like visiting a little oasis of peace and encouragement in the midst of the trauma of surgeries and procedures, and I was happily distracted! I bought my first pair of Gems By Jael earrings that day, and left with a warm feeling in my heart. Years have passed since that first visit. I now have 2 kids who have regular visits to Sick Kids. It’s become a tradition to visit Gems By Jael each time a child has a procedure. Every time, Jael and her staff are kind and encouraging. They ask about what we’re going through, and talk to my children. They celebrate with us when we get good news. Each beautiful, hand-made piece of jewelry marks a milestone in my children’s lives. I had an absolutely wonderful experience with Gems by Jael. I brought them my wedding ring which originally had a beautiful tanzanite stone but after years of sanitizer and physical scratches on the stone, it was dull and damaged. I asked if they could refinish the tanzanite stone since it was soldered to my wedding band and had sentimental value. I had previously taken it to another jeweller who said it was beyond repair but I was absolutely blown away by the thought and detail that Jael and Sean put into the restoration of my ring! The results were incredible and the price was the best estimate I could have hoped for! They explained the process (which included removing the stone from the setting, refinishing it and resetting it) and they patiently answered all my questions! I am so thrilled with the result! They were personally invested in ensuring I was satisfied and they even texted me updates about my ring. I recommend them to anyone and everyone who needs custom jewellery work! The jewellery in their store is also beautiful and very reasonably priced but I will be going back to have my other jewellery restored. I recommend 10/10 and I should mention that they were originally highly recommended to me by my colleague....

My daughter started attending Sick Kids in April 2010 at the age of 3. We were lucky enough to discover "Gems by Jael". The owners are amazing and over the years their presence has made the regular visits easier. When my daughter was younger she would love to visit "Gems by Jael" as she would manage to encourage me to buy her "sparkly" earrings. Jael and her husband always had a smile on their face and made my daughter feel special. Over the years nothing has changed. They are still a remarkable couple and extend their ears to listen to a child's story. They make the journey a bit lighter and I have to say, once you visit them, you too will agree that their presence in Sick Kids makes the children's experience brighter. Parents will agree as well, that "Gems by Jael" makes our lives less challenging. When you are facing the bumps in the road (Like I have for the past 13 and a half years), you need a place like this with people of this calibre to help carry the load.
