Gyubee Downtown is hands down one of the best Japanese BBQ spots in Toronto. From the moment you walk in, you notice how welcoming and attentive the staff are. Service here is consistently top notch—servers explain the menu clearly, give helpful recommendations, and are always quick to refill, clear plates, and make sure everything is just right. It makes the whole dining experience smooth and enjoyable, especially when you’re focused on grilling and eating.
The food itself is excellent. The quality of the meat and seafood really stands out—you can taste the freshness in every bite. The beef cuts are beautifully marbled, tender, and packed with flavor, while the chicken, pork, and seafood are just as impressive. Shrimp, squid, and other seafood options are well-prepared and taste fresh off the grill. There’s also a nice selection of vegetables and sides to balance things out, so you don’t just fill up on meat. Portion sizes are generous without sacrificing quality, which makes the all-you-can-eat format feel worth every dollar.
Another thing that really sets Gyubee apart is the ventilation. At many BBQ places, you leave smelling like smoke or oil, but not here. The system is excellent—you can enjoy the grilling experience and still walk out without carrying the scent of BBQ on your clothes and hair. It makes a huge difference, especially if you’re planning to go out after dinner or just don’t want your whole jacket smelling like food.
The atmosphere is lively but comfortable. Tables are well-spaced, and the restaurant feels clean and modern. It’s a great place whether you’re coming with friends, family, or even on a casual date night. You get the fun of grilling your own food without any of the stress, because everything—from ordering to clearing plates—is handled quickly and with care.
Overall, Gyubee Downtown is a must-visit if you’re craving Japanese BBQ. The combination of high-quality food, excellent ventilation, and truly outstanding service makes it one of the best dining experiences in the city. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a spot where you can enjoy delicious food in a comfortable and...
Read moreBeen there on one Saturday night, the price is 42.99 (cheaper when it’s weekday) , which is a reasonable price considering there are a variety of items to choose. It’s an all-you-can-eat japanese style grill restaurant, but you have to order the items from the waiter instead of getting items by yourself.
Me and my friend we started with 5 portions of each type of beef, it’s common that when you order 5 portions but ended up with only 3 portions, and your order can easily be missed at this type of restaurants, so always order large portion for the first round, trust me, 5 portions of each type of beef is not that much.
I do not recommend the beef in green circle in my picture, I kind of forget which beef it was, but it’s cut in cube and not well marinated so there’s no much flavor even with the dipping sauce, so go with those that are cut into slices, taste much better.
I also do not recommend the lamb, well it tastes food but i don’t like its cut, too small so it is hard to pick up when done, thus some lamb along with the sliced onions will stick on the grill and eventually get burnt, we ordered the lamb twice and have to ask for change of the grill twice just because of the burnt lamb and onion on the grill.
Pork, well, just pork, all 3 types of pork belly are not bad, the 2 sausages are just average.
The sake steamed clam is pretty good, and I really like the salmon which is marinated with miso sauce.
Me and my friend ended up with paying 100 dollars (including tax and tips) that night, we get 6 dollars deducted since we paid in cash (they only take cash or debit). Definitely worth the price.
The downside is that they only take reservations for 6+ people, otherwise you have to join the waiting list via yelp, which is totally trash, for example when we first joined the list there are 10+ groups ahead of us, my friend kept checking the progress and there were always 10+ groups ahead and several minutes it’s suddenly our turn and we are given only 5 minutes to show up in the restaurant, which we of course missed so we have to join the waiting list the second time and wait for...

Gyubee Japanese Grill in Dundas offers a delightful experience for those looking to enjoy authentic Japanese barbecue. This establishment stands out for its quality ingredients, vibrant atmosphere, and attentive service, making it a must-visit for barbecue enthusiasts in the area.
During my recent visit, I was particularly impressed by the variety of menu options. Gyubee specializes in Yakiniku, or grilled meat, and provides a wide selection, including marinated beef, pork, chicken, and an assortment of fresh vegetables. The Beef Kalbi was a highlight, delivering a satisfying mouth experience.
Gyubee differentiates itself from competitors by offering a grill-at-your-table experience, allowing diners to cook their food to perfection. This interactive dining style not only adds a fun element but also ensures that your meal is served hot and fresh. Additionally, the restaurant sources high-quality ingredients, which is evident in the taste and presentation of each dish.
For those considering other Japanese grill options, Gyubee holds its ground against local competitors like Kinka Family and Gyu-Kaku. While both offer similar dining experiences, Gyubee’s ambiance feels more relaxed, and its emphasis on quality meats gives it an edge. However, if you’re seeking a broader menu that includes sushi and other traditional Japanese dishes, Kinka may be a better fit.
Overall, Gyubee Japanese Grill in Dundas provides a wonderful dining experience that showcases the art of Japanese grilling. It’s a great option for anyone looking to indulge in high-quality barbecue with a unique twist. While there are a few minor drawbacks, the benefits certainly outweigh them. I recommend Gyubee for anyone craving a delicious meal with friends or family.
