Ground Control — Local services in Toronto

We went to the '70s - '80s party on 1st of March. I have reserved a corner table for 4 persons. The prices of the drinks were decent. We paid (for start - because afterward we had some more drinks) CADs 47 + tips for 2 beers and 2 alcohol drinks. The crowd was good, dancing all night. Good people, even young ones (around 20 years old). The washrooms were in very good condition (way to go cleaner!. :) ) The music at the start was '60s and then moved to '70s and late '70s. At around 12:00 a.m. (where dj came), the music wasn't that good! After 12:00 a.m., the music was good (disco, old rap, and funk). The volume of the sound was okay. The only problem was that there were too many middle range frequencies (the dj should lower them a bit from his equalizer or whatever he uses).

Overall, we had a good evening. We danced and we had a pleasant night! Would we visit it...

Ground control is a beautiful David Bowie-inspired club and event space in Parkdale. It's got 2 bars, a gorgeous front lounge with seating and a small dancefloor, plus a huge dance space in the back. Sparkly paint on the walls highlights the Bowie memorabilia on the walls. There are multiple screens throughout, playing videos all night while you dance to your favourite genre depending on the night. You can expect to hear Retro 80s, New Wave, Alternative, 90s, Britpop Indie and Disco. They even have a Guilty Pleasures night which is insanely popular. The staff are efficient and friendly (something that is rare these days in the bar scene), and they cater to a wide variety of people and a range of ages....

I'm new in town and I really liked this place. It was nice until the bartender started treating us badly, she dropped the terminal to pay and threw the drinks at us in a bad way. When we left the security guard also behaved badly with us, we was 3 girls and we didn't know the rules about alcohol in the city, we left with some drinks in our hands and the guard took them from us and threw them in the trash, he also yelled at us. We didn't understand what we had done wrong, then a man who was there explained to us that they can be fined. They should put up signs or be more patient with people who are foreigners.
