When my husband and I got engaged over 30 years ago, a dream engagement ring was not within our budget. Fast forward several decades and I was finally on the hunt for a ring that represented our life together. Something classic, yet unique, with an antique yet modern vibe and maybe even colored stones. Ethical sourcing was also a priority. After a years-long search for just the right designer, I finally found Emily Gill of Toronto. (Oh and did I mention, we live in California?) After taking inspiration from one of Emily’s previous designs, she helped me find the perfect center stone from Misfit Diamonds, and we then began the work of creating my ring together. All this was done via video conferencing, and within budget! Emily is kind, fun, a good listener, and gives expert advice. Emily was amazing to work with!! My (now) husband found and chose her based on her unique style and he secretly worked with her on my engagement ring, which I am absolutely obsessed with. The style is perfectly me – both vintage and modern, both organic and geometric, and looks great with both casual outfits and formal ones. I love the salt n pepper diamond and everyone asks me what kind of stone it is. The bursts of inclusions are so interesting to look at, and it reflects sunlight like a disco ball!! When it came to our wedding bands, I worked with Emily on designing a signet-style ring for my husband. He gave me some ideas for ring designs he might like, and Emily and I took them and made something unique for him. His is platinum with a black diamond in the middle and custom hand engraving inside. For my own wedding band, Emily helped me choose a style that would complement my engagement ring. It even has a tiny diamond in it too! It was an absolute pleasure working with Emily and we are thrilled with all three rings we got from her. :)
