This is a strange and barren place. I have been there twice. The first time, I bought a little vegan âbeefâ pie and was told to heat it up for a couple of minutes. It turned out to be frozen, solid, evoking Kitchen Nightmares. If only Iâd listen to myself. I went there last week, having not eaten all day. But I became a little queasy, looking at the pastries under the lights. They looked off, shiny and nauseous. Then I saw a plate of shortbread cookies with cherries on top and bought several and ate them because they looked innocuous and I was so hungry. Two hours later, I started vomiting and 12 hours later was still violently ill as Iâve ever been in my life. Either someone there practices no sanitation, or the cherries on the cookies were rancid. This caused me, severe agony, including intestinal, bleeding, and when I called them, one call was returned by someone saying, I hear you feel a little bit bad. I requested they call back and they did not. I write this to warn anyone thinking of entering this, now I see why, empty all the time cafe. Not only did they poison me, they showed no interest whatsoever in discussing this with me, and extended, not a single courtesy to me, not so much as an Iâm sorry. I want to remind whoever is reading this again that for 12 hours I felt that someone was slashing me with knives. The pain was that bad. And I urge you never ever to eat at this hell hole. Or you shall regret it...
Read moreWOW! What a pleasant surprise this place was! I came for the weekend brunch and got the eggs benedict. I was honestly amazed with the quality. The eggs tasted like eggs and had the same texture. The ham tasted like ham and had the same texture. Hollandaise was delicious and same with the fluffy biscuit thingy it came on. Really impressive. The place looks like it's products would be expensive buts its very reasonably priced for a vegan place. They have breakfast sandwiches for 7$. The entrees are closer to 15 but that's normal if not slightly cheaper than most vegan restaurants. The interior is a little oasis. I think it's based off Denmark? But the interior is stunning, fancy and also homely. Every little detail; a fireplace, candle on the table, flower center pieces. Really really beautiful and comforting. Very well designed and great interior choices. The only reason for 4 stars is just my personal preference. I know soy is a staple for vegan alternatives but I think there are healthier just as affordable options that are better for the body. Really I give this place like 4.9 stars haha. Absolutely loved eating here it was a very nice...
Read moreI think the servers were having a bad day cuz our order took what felt like 20 minutes to arrive but in their defense we did go buy things three separate times. The custard pastry was amaaaaaazzziiing but it had an almond flavour which I don't hate but just wasn't expecting because it wasn't on the label. I expected custard. I love custard. They have vegan products that you can buy such as chocolate bars and spreads etc as well as original vegan goodies and meals made in store. They have a few things on the menu that are actually just store bought products like the tofurkey beer sausages in their brunch menu, which always disappoints me, but what place doesn't do that?? Their thornhill location is where I have been to the most and I say they have some of the best vegan sweets I have ever tasted (like their little vegan truffles) Their chocolate ice cream tastes just...
