I'm relatively new to Lift, having started about two weeks ago. My motivation for getting back into lifting stemmed from my desire to return to the gym after a prolonged hiatus due to an injury. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I set up a home gym, and went to various gyms/classes, but I struggled to find the motivation to train consistently.
At 43 years old, I was determined to achieve my fitness goals, so I decided to give Lift a try. I'm thrilled that I discovered this place because it has exceeded my expectations. The people here not only exhibit kindness but also demonstrate impressive levels of fitness. This includes both the trainers and the fellow lifters I work out alongside.
This positive environment, which also maintains an element of healthy competition is exactly what I needed to reignite my fitness journey. While I recognize that I'm still far from my desired fitness level, I am absolutely confident that I will reach my goals. The encouragement and positive atmosphere here, where you put in your best effort during your workout sessions and still walk away feeling fantastic, are truly...
Read moreFantastic CrossFit Gym. Moved here in Toronto and meant to try different boxes, tried Lift and signed up immediately without having to try other boxes because I was super impressed with the following:
Space - Hydraulic floors where you can drop your bars. This is KEY for a downtown CrossFit gym. They also have all the toys (e.g., barbells, weights, rowers, skiers, assault bikes, regular bikes, etc.). Equipment is new and in great shape and the owners are always adding newer and fun things to the box
Coaching - GREAT! all very knowledgable, focused on each athletics performance. I like that they give advice based on best available evidence and not just their opinion. Well informed, respectful and fun
Programming - always new, always leading up to a bigger goal. Posted ahead of time .. some partner Wods which are a lot of fun
Community - friendly, some social events to get a community sense going, great times during Open workouts
Bottom line: Great gym with knowledgable coaching and friendly...
Read moreLift is a great gym, friendly to all levels of fitness and to all people :). Here’s some specific thoughts on it:
Work outs (5/5): Well structured, typically 1hr hybrid classes - starting with a warm up, then some strength training (practicing form here) and ending with some cardio / active movements. Instructors (5/5): Super friendly, my favourite is Jess! But they all know you by your name and they check on your form and movements throughout the workout. Facility (4/5): A bit small but it’s located downtown Toronto. It’s typically clean, and depending on the instructor you’d get a different music playlist. Community (4.5/5): I’m more of an introvert so it’s a bit strange to chat while working out but there’s typically some events that connect the community. Overall, everyone’s pretty nice. You also become a “lifter” once you join the gym l, and they may reward you with a t-shirt once you complete 100 classes.
I like this gym, and it deserves a 5/5. Management is also very open...
