Top Food Supermarket — Local services in Toronto

I decided to leave a review here. I am a regular customer for years. I love their Halal meat , great price. fresh meat and friendly butchers. For me, their seafood, frozen food and meat department don't appeal to me. I bought seafood and meat there, but I found their staff have very short patience. After few unpleasant experiences, I just buy seafood and beef shank/ short ribs in a different Asian supermarket. On June 30, 2025, I went there for halal meat and was thinking to pick up a bottle of calamansi extract juice. While I picked up that calamansi extract, accidently I broke a bottle of Patis fish sauce. A tall and skinny staff came to check, I immediately said sorry and said I will pay for it. He was furious and yelled to me, " why did you break it ?" I was confused and said I don't know what happened, I am sorry, but I will pay it. Then he said " you broke it, you have to pay for it. " He left and called for cleaning team over. He left me standing there alone, no sure what to do. I took a picture of Patis fish sauce and continued my grocery shopping. I showed the picture to the cashier while I checked out. She added 3.59 dollars on my bill. Cashiers are always friendly.

Been a regular customer for years, I am happy the city installed a traffic light for the new community across the street. Top food will have more customers in the future once the residents start to move in the community. But before welcome those new and potential customers, Top Food has some works need to be done, parking spaces redo and staff manner training .....

Guess what? I went to a different Asian supermarket next day, I found that same bottle of calamansi extract was cheaper.

I read their reviews on Google , no matter positive or negative, the owner never reply , I guess this review will not appeal to him / her either. Maybe that is why their staff are rude and...

Recently went to this place for the first time. I had combo #1 at the hot food counter. I noticed there is no place to eat at the store so I kept walking and stopped at the library to the west to sit down and eat it. The quality of the meal was mediocre at best but the price was "low" so I wasn't expecting much. Anyway, about 45min later I got diarrhea which absolutely had to be from the food at this place as I never have such issues, even when eating street food in Mexico or China. For a food store that made me sick, I can only give a one star rating. There is one more thing. While passing by the seafood area I saw a customer talking to the fishmonger and directing him as to what fish he wanted from the ones that were displayed on ice. This man proceeded to use his bare index finger to touch three of the fish. He pushed his finger into each fish like he was testing them for something (freshness?) The fishmonger made no attempt to stop him nor did he admonish him for doing so. Well, that's enough for me. First and last time. Maybe they should rename this place "Top Bacteria...

Horrible service at the lottery booth they are never at the lottery area when we need them and when I ask for lottery printout they are mean they don't care lottery areaI have a complaint I wanted to play the lottery The cashier wouldn't do it for me many times I've been there the cashier very rude and bad to me when I need the lottery and they are talking too much to their coworkers not giving us the attention a customer needs Chinese lady very rude to me tonight she didn't play my lottery ticket she refused and she could easily have done it take 1 minute I've had a horrible experience at the lottery area many times first time I'm complaining I've been shopping there 8 years always the lottery section very bad very rude cashier at the lottery very disrespectful I might go to another grocery store if nothing changes at that...
