Nice store, however management is rude and unprofessional. They need to receive some training on customer service due to the fact that many people are complaining about them here.
I saw an item at the showcase which I was interested in. It was inside a stapled clear bag, like the ones they have in electronics or toy section where customers are not to open them. I asked to open the bag as it is showcase and it would make sense to have an attendant in front of you, that allows you to turn on the item, plug it, test it, etc. The attendant told me that he can't open the bag. I asked to speak to the manager. Manager Shaun showed up and was told me that it's a "sealed" bag and it can't be opened. I told him that it's a Value Village clear bag and it's no sealed, but stapled and I should be allowed to test the electric item at the showcase before I buy it. Shaun became visibly angry and yelled "you are not allowed to open the bag" and walked available.
Previously I was buying a PS3 game from Value Village. They have empty boxes on the shelves and all the disks and the black binders behind the registers. While the cashier was looking for my game I saw multiple PS3, Wii and X-Box games on the binder, while the boxes were not on display. I asked casher if I can buy them as well. I was told to speak to manager. Shaun attended and notified me that they cannot sell games without the box. I told him that I'm a frequent shopper at Value Village and I have never seen those game boxes on the shelves, they either did not come in box or the boxes got stolen/misplaced. I told him they I am still willing to buy those games and pay full price for them like for the games with boxes, however he wouldn't listen to me, became agitated and repeated that they can't sell disks without boxes. After that he walked away.
Shaun is not reasonable at all and he is highly unprofessional. I would still buy the products and would still pay full price for that, however he just doesn't allow you to do that. He is either saving items for himself/someone, or he is just a terrible manager for the store.
I have nothing personal against manager Shaun. I only had a few interactions with him and all of them were negative. And it also seems like I'm not the only person leaving negative reviews to this manager. Maybe that's something that should be taken into the...
Read moreBuyers beware. MANAGER TRIED TO SCAM US. I don’t write reviews but on Friday August 20, 2021 around 7:30pm, a group of 3 of us went to the Islington, Etobicoke location after receiving an email from Value Village promoting their sale (spend $30 get 20% off; $50 get 25% off; $75 get 30%off). Once at the checked out, we were set to get at least 25% off our $58 purchase. We were confused when the cashier told us that we didn’t have enough to get the 25% discount and a manager named Mark came over, reviewed the situation and said that we needed to spend more. Although embarrassed to do so, we put all the items back in the cart, stepped aside, losing our queue in the long lineup to recalculate the amount we had and confirmed that it totaled over $58. When we talked to the manager again, he told us that the till adjusts the price at $30 and that lowers the amount automatically so technically it shows that we didn’t spend that amount but rather less than $50. What? So we asked Mark (manager) how much does a customer have to spend to get the 25% discount, is it not $50? Mark (manager) said because of the till adjustment, we MIGHT need to spend at least $63 or $65. Something did not seem right. We were not happy and surprised at the false advertising. We took some items off our purchase. We went to another location in Mississauga and the manager at that location told us when you spend $50 you get a 25% discount and do not have to spend $65. The issue here is that Mark (manager) was confused about the Value Village promotion and he seemed to not care. We wasted our time but the worse part of all of this is, if the Mark (manager) tried to scam us into buying $65 worth of goods, how many other customers had to spend more than they had to because of this manager. The items at the Islington location are priced unreasonably high to begin with! I will not be returning to this...
Read moreHello everyone, I'm announcing all people with good hearts. Please do not make a donation to this particular store. The store is nice, but employees are very corrupt, of course not everyone. I start with the production manager, it is called Shan, which is a famous collector of old used things and a fanatic from the Star wars collection. There are many valuable things that are never on the shelves in the store. Namely, Mr.Shan as the production manager has the first admission on receiving donations. With a moment when he sees interesting items he takes to take, covers with papers and after some time these things disappear, you will never see them in the store on the shelves. Valuable things are in the office and shared with the rest of the elite managers. Recently there was a watch valued on a large sum of money, one employee found and took to the manager of the store, Mrs.Israt Bari, and after some time she asked her "do you know how much the clock was valued?" answer was not nice and you could see this lady from the fact that she is not sincere and hides something in store. Honestly, this employee asked three times about this particular watch and every time Mrs.Israt was very gruff. I think that there should be an investigation. I am very sorry that the management of this store is enriched by poor people who suffer from diabetes. If you like to learn more about general activities in another store than please just google: Savers, a Thrift Chain, Said to Pocket money Mean for Charity. You will see...
