One of a Few — Local services in Vancouver

I went into One of a Few to snag J Hannah nail polish, as they are one of the few in the city who carry it. I got what I needed product wise, however I was expecting better customer service given the establishment. I walked into the store and the first thing their sales associate said was 'Are you lost?'. I'm not sure what was intended by this, however, as someone who has worked customer service before I would never let these be the first words to a customer. Regardless of whether they looked lost or not. I was not lost for the record, I just don't think I look like their regular clientele. The rest of the interaction was very dry. Very little effort made to talk about J Hannah once I inquired - or any of their vegan nail polishes. Once at the till I was informed they didn't have tap as most of their transactions weren't below the $100 limits for tap. Not that I asked. What really left a bad taste in my mouth was the fact that I wasn't offered a bag. This is standard practice everywhere - I don't want to have to ask for one. I really love this store for the amazing brands, but I find the customer service extremely rude and condescending. As a born-and-raised East Van girl, I have been an avid fan of One of a Few since its inception. But in the past couple of years, I have stopped dropping by because of a specific sales associate. I have walked out twice now without buying something that I really loved because my experience with her leaves a really awful taste in my mouth. I don't like to leave reviews like this. But at this point, I felt compelled to because it genuinely upsets me that when I'm looking to spend my hard-earned money on local designers, I'm being made to feel like I shouldn't have the audacity to even step into the store, let alone touch the clothes. I stumbled upon this store when checking out the steam clock nearby. I’m so happy about the discovery! While I didn’t get her name, the woman working here on Wednesday was awesome. She was friendly and helped me find the perfect dress pants. I had looked in many other places beforehand and couldn’t find exactly what I wanted. This store has a variety of nice clothing and accessories. When in the area again, I’ll be back!
