La Jolie Robe — Local services in Vaudreuil-Dorion

This review reflects my personal experience as a paying customer, supported by documented evidence, and is shared in accordance with my rights under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the Consumer Protection Act, which protects consumers from defective products and misleading sales practices.

I have tried to handle this matter amicably. Unfortunately, the store director has contradicted herself on multiple occasions, and I have yet to hear from the store owner to offer a proper resolution. The only resolution presented was a repair, even though my dress can never be worn again, as the defect was only discovered on my wedding day. This is after the store initially blamed my seamstress, who had only adjusted the bust of the dress after my breast reconstruction surgery, and had not touched the bottom or train of the gown.

Everything in this matter has been documented via email, from my first lacklustre experience in November last year to the discovery on my wedding day that my dress was defective. While laying out my dress for photos, my family and I found the lining twisted inside, something I would never have noticed at the fitting since I did not walk around in the dress. Later, I was told three different stories: that it was a design choice, that it was a flaw confirmed by the designer, and that the lining was “meant” to be that way. The designer themselves later assured me it was not intended to be twisted and should have been properly attached to the train.

Offering to repair a dress I can never wear again makes no sense. This has affected me emotionally and mentally, as I cannot get that day back. I truly thought I was supporting a local brand and had referred several brides to this store. At the very least, I expected the store owner to reach out and address the situation in good faith.

As consumers, when we spend our money, we have the right to speak up. My intent here is not to defame but to share my documented experience so other brides are fully informed before making a purchase.

I will follow up my review. I will be adding photos from my wedding day to clearly show the defect in my dress. Although I cannot post full videos on Google, I will provide screenshots taken from videos captured by my guests and from Instagram Stories I was tagged in, so that others can see exactly what I experienced. Everything I have stated is documented via email, and I will keep records of all related images and correspondence. Thankfully, I had purchased a secondary dress from another store for the reception, because I continued to trip over the defective gown...

To say I had a GOOD time at La Jolie Robe is such an understatement! After a few months of postponing booking an appointment due to Covid-19 it was as if the universe totally aligned and told me I NEEDED to book an appointment! La Jolie Robe became the newest retailer of Essence of Australia (my dream dress designer)!!! I booked an appointment to try on both consigned dresses and some new dresses. We were welcomed with huge smiles and lots of fun and giggles!!!

Anne Marie is seriously one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet. She is a go-getter with a heart of gold. I booked the last appointment of the day which was allocated one hour and Anne Marie went ABOVE AND BEYOND by hosting us for almost 3 hours to ensure that the dress I found was THE ONE!!! We talked about hundreds of topics so organically! Truly an amazing experience. I never once felt stressed out or pressured to make a purchase.

Anne Marie is so inspiring! She took a dream that she had and followed Her heart. She ran La Jolie Robe from home for a couple years until this year. A couple weeks after opening Covid hit and she had to close shop! She is the queen at being able to pivot and adapt! If there is anyone who can manage all that whilst working, being a mom, a wife and so much more that’s the person I want to trust with my dress 😍 she truly puts her heart on her sleeve, you can’t ask for more than that!!!

Her shop is by appointment only therefor you can count on being the only people in the shop! You will receive a very personalized service. She has hundreds of dresses to choose from with so many accessories! What’s even more fun is that La Jolie Robe rents veils too!!! Instead of spending 800+$ on a veil, you can totally rent one instead!!!

Anne Marie & Mikayla welcomes us a second time and delivered amazing customer service once again! These two lovely ladies make a great team!

The shop has good lighting and is very sanitary. In a time like Covid it’s so important to find vendors that will respect all regulations and La Jolie Robe does a great job!!!

I'll be frank, this boutique is the absolute best if you are in need of a prom dress (which was my case) or a wedding dress. The boutique La Jolie Robe has countless options that suit any taste which is by itself very impressive. However, what really sets this store apart from the others is the customer service. They cater to your every need with a helpful hand. Unlike other stores in which you can sometimes feel yourself being pressured into buying something expensive and that might not be the absolute perfect fit, La Jolie Robe is the exact opposite. In my case, while I had found some options that suited me, I still felt unsure about some certain aspects of my body that I wanted to let's say hide (I'm sure anyone can relate to it). I confided this to Mykaela (sorry if I butchered the name) and she was very comprehensive and nonjudgmental, I truly felt as if she understood my troubles. Rather than forced and fake, her feedbacks felt as if it was a friend who simply wanted the best for me no matter the time taken or the dress's price range which I truly appreciate. Not only did she go through all their dresses selections once more to see if there was anything that would fit what we talked about, but she also gave me some more options to style the dress to better fit my taste with some tasteful accessories. La Jolie Robe's entire team was so helpful and welcoming, I don't regret the long trip to get there! So, please believe me when I say that this boutique is one of the best you can find. Not only are all the dresses gorgeous and of amazing quality, the overall experience was simply delightful, a true VIP treatment....
