What a great service to our community from the moment you walk into this special book store , gift shop and specialty cafe you are welcomed usually by (Mike) the owner to browse the store and warehouse area. Their selection of books and gifts are extensive and Mike assured if I didn’t see what I was looking for he can order it in most cases as cheap as what I could find on Amazon. I couldn’t help stopping at the cafe where (Melanie) the other owner has just brought out some fresh cinnamon buns and muffins. I just had to order a specialty coffee and sit in the cafe to enjoy. Read moreService is nice enough but if you are looking for Christian authors who aren't part of the GOP American mega church scene... Don't look here. There are no titles by Richard Rohr, Rachel Held Evens, Borg, Bruggerman. Nothing from the Iona community or on new monasticism even though there is interest in Victoria. I very much miss Koinonia Book Store that used to be downtown. A smaller store but more ecumenical. Also would love to see more fair trade items. Christians should be supporting good, fair manufacturing practices. Good selection of greeting cards and colouring books. Will bill directly to your church which is quite handy for those buying...
Read moreThe store's coffee shop, Ahava Java, is so far my favourite in Victoria. The food and drinks are pretty good, the staff are friendly, and the price is reasonable. Most of all, though, I love the atmosphere: it's clean and quiet and puts me at ease, while most other cafes tend to put me a little on edge (I'm very introverted and a bit sensitive to crowds and noise). I like to go here every week if I can.
