Pictou County Wellness Centre — Local services in Westville Road

I hosted a birthday party for my son on January 28th and I could not believe how rude the staff and manager were. First I was lied to when I booked the party and inquired about the large pool and offered to pay extra, I was told they don't book the big pool but if no one was in it the boys can use it as they are older and in swimming lessons. When we got there the boys jumped into the big pool as there was no one else there. They were told to get out and when I explained to the manager what I was told upon booking she called me a liar and said no one would have told me that, that's when I got mad and decided I would never book there again. One of my guests came late and instead of asking if they were with us, the life guard went up to them and pointed at the door and said "OUT". I was blown away.Then we asked for the tunes for the lazy river and were told they didn't have them, which would have been good to know upon booking. So I asked if they could use the flat chest boards or noodles in the lazy River to float on instead and was told no, no toys in the river except the tubes that they didn't have. Then in the party room we lit candles on the cake and turned the lights off to sing happy birthday, when we tried to turn the lights back on, they wouldn't turn on. So we went to the desk to ask how to get the lights back on and the girl said very rudely that none told us we could touch the lights...well guess what you little snip it...no one told us we couldn't and there is no sign stating such as I did take pictures. I will never book there again and even the other guests couldn't believe the treatment and suggeated we use the pictou pool or another venue from now on which is exactly what i will do. $ 250 can be spent on renting a better venue and treated...

We had heard rave reviews of the pool facility so we drove 50 km from our hotel to check it out. It was disappointing. We paid $20 for our family of four for a 90 minute family swim. The lazy river was far from lazy and was as small as they come, half of the larger pool was roped off for lane swimming the entire time, the tiny slide was not open and I counted over 60 swimmers (which included a birthday party of young children) with only one lifeguard present at most times. There's no way the lifeguard could keep an eye on that many people in all those areas. The change rooms were typical and smelled of urine but wow, I have never seen such ridiculously small lockers! I should have measured but my guess is that they're about 8 inches wide. Good luck fitting anything in them. The steam room was...

This is such an under-utilized facility. Great staff, clean, nice arenas and pools. Gym looks nice and there's a fitness studio with newer machines for working out on.

Prices are high, but if the facility runs on user fees as opposed to taxes, that's appropriate.
