The Appleseed Modern Diner — Restaurant in Westville Road

Today came for lunch and had visitors with me. I ordered the breakfast and asked that my eggs be well done over really hard yolks broke. I’ve been ordering them since I was old enough to order out. I am now seventy. Well when I cut into the eggs the yolk ran across my plate. I could not do runny eggs. When I mentioned to server(Jayme B) instead of saying oh sorry I will take them back she said” I gave you over hard”. I do come to this establishment often and will continue with my patronage, but I have to say her attitude was not good today. Maybe an off day for her.

Updated 4 nov 2024 Had tried two other places that website said were open but they were closed. So I came back into town and called here first and they were open. I’ve always enjoyed it here and tonight was not disappointed. I was last one there bur was treated as first. Thanks

It was dirty, greasy and the service was trash.

For the past few months I've been watching the dust and dead bugs grow along their window sill.

Cob webs hanging down from the ceiling to the booths.

But today took the cake.

I first noticed the janky coffee cup edge I was sipping my coffee from. These are Ikea glasses. Ikea delivers. Not sure why they're not being replaced.

When the food arrived one plate had potatoes swimming in oil accompanied by the heart of an onion and a hair or possibly just a fibre of something. The potatoes were left untouched.

My poutine came looking delicious. After a bite I noticed under the egg and sauce was a large coating of bacon... Something I didn't add and do not enjoy..

Our coffees sat empty.

The server offered to replace the potatoes, but after the bugs, dust, broken glass, bacon and grease we decided to just leave after paying the full bill.

I hate when they ask if you'd like a discount as if that's the reason you're mentioning how atrocious their...

I'll try to keep this short and I'd love to not do this review and keep this place a secret but I can't. My experience here was amazing. We were picking up our puppy after a trip in Egerton and heading back to Halifax and wanted something to eat after getting off the plane. We popped breakfast places to eat while driving on the highway and hit the jackpot. We weren't expecting it to be so full when we entered and had to wait 15 minutes after which we were asked if we wanted to sit at the bar or wait on a table. We were famished and decided to take the seat at the bar. To set the scene, the decor and mood is from my favorite era (80s, 90s) and the food was amazing. There were lots of families there making memories and old arcade games are right next door. Will I be back? The short answer is yes.
