Giving 1 star so google would allow me to write a review but to be honest this store deserves none. Just walked out of the place with my brother without buying anything. We walked in to get some meat; as we were waiting in line to get served, the butcher tells the 2 men behind us to come forward so he could serve them. They came way after us and were waiting behind us, but I guess we were black and they were brown so he tried to send a message(well received). I will make sure to spread the word. Funny thing is that this store was referred to us by a very good Pakistani friend.
Edit: Thank you for the politically correct answer. Nobody took our spot, your butcher locked eyes with us and intentionally called the people behind us on the side and then asked them how he could assist them. They had not placed a previous order and were even surprised by the guy’s gesture. As we proceeded to leave he...
Read moreThis store has an extensive stock of Pakastani and Indian food. It is refreshing in a way to wander through aisles that have a corner store feel. The day I shopped there I was the only Caucasian in the place which added to the adventure and authenticity of this market tucked away in St. Vital. While there is hallal meat, I was there as a plant - based eater and it is a vegan treasure trove of amazing and fairly priced spices, dried beans and legumes. I managed to walk away with a large tub of fengreek seeds which I plant to sprout, as well as powdered Amla, a spice that I have been looking for months and would have cost triple in a health food store. As other reviewers have said, it's hard to find someone to help you but the cashier hesitantly helped me last minute when I was ready to pay. I feel this is not a bad trade off if you know this before you come. (Like this review if you found...
Read moreThe customer service at this place is terrible. The people in the meat section don’t understand the value of time for their customers. They think customers have all day for them. I ordered my meat on call 6 hours before I went to pick it up, and I arrived there to know that I had to tell them my whole order and then they prepared it. They don’t focus on their job instead on talking. The attitude in that environment is disappointing and I don’t think I will be going there. Grocery bazar is probably a better option to be honest. The owners need to understand they can’t run this type of service in Canada. Another thing to note, last time I went in the store I saw mice running around under the shelves but that isn’t it, a lot of the food such as onions are simply on the ground in buckets un covered therefore a great place for the mice. I don’t like to write bad reviews for people, but this...
