Update after 9 months: still good, portion size is smaller which is fine because I found the regular wrap used to be too much! My boyfriend and I share an order of fries with our wrap and that's plenty for us. Where it's gone wrong: the customer service has gone downhill. There used to be a nice lady working the front. Havent seen her in a while. Two gentlemen normally work and they definitely don't have a happy attitude. Ordering is bizarre? Weird mishmash of toppings. Sometimes they ask what you want on it. Sometimes they don't. Potential to have the "subway" style but misses the mark. When the staff don't appear approachable this isn't the best system. Ordering online. The menu is just confusing online. Ordering a wrap by itself you can choose toppings, ordering as a meal you can't. Not all sauces are available. Seems lazily done. HYGIENE!!!! I tried messaging them on Instagram about this before having to leave a review but received no response. I went there March 28th and they had gloves on, making food, answering phone, using POS, back to food, all with the same gloves on. That's never okay especially not with a virus out there. Really disappointing and careless. Biggest reason for my 2-star rating.
Original review: Partner and I are avid shawarma fans - if you were to ever ask us we'd always say Baraka is the place to be but it's out of the way for us. Lamar has filled the gap!! Delicious flavour. So happy to have a place like this so close to home....
Read moreThis is an initial review. The restaurant has only been open for three weeks.
My favorites here were the poutine and the chicken wings!
Fries come with everything and they are Delicious. I'm a big fan of Costco fries and they seem battered in that kind of way. Price point seems decent at around $12 (some a bit higher and some lower $10-$15) for your main course (choice of shawarma, burger, salad, etc), fries and a drink (canned soft drink). I was told if you don't want it in a combo you could just get the entree for $3 less.
I wasn't very hungry when I got there with my friends so I just sampled some of the food. Most of the food we ate was cold (not the restaurants fault we waited to eat it) so I don't want to comment on their not fresh stuff as we got it fresh. That wouldn't be fair to the restaurant.
Parking is available in a large lot, but it was still pretty full...
