Metro Meats and Deli is a long-standing Winnipeg icon for authentic Ukrainian style cured and smoked meats. My 87 year old Ukrainian Mom out in Victoria BC swears that they make the best Kulbasa that she has ever tasted in her life! They use the proper Ukrainian method of sausage making, using large chunks of tender pork packing into the casings before smoking. The texture and flavour of these sausages must be experienced first-hand, for one to understand how much of a difference that this old-fashioned hand-made technique makes in the final product.I suggest that you try both the regular and "Barbeque" style Kulbasa, although that is simply my own preference - I have never tasted a "bad" product from Metro Meats. Even on your first visit, make sure that you buy more than one ring of Kulbasa - if you don't, you'll find yourself regretting your choice because one ring disappears pretty fast! Great service, nice ladies working behind the counter, Ukrainian spoken here - but not essential, they'll still help you if you haven't learned...

My review is 10/10 Best bacon in town is here I love the cold meats and u can buy fresh kubby (kolbassa) on a bun for $4.50 and they also make sandwiches GET DOUBLE HAM AND SWISS WITH HOT MUSTARD FOR 7$ (better deal than subway & my friend Andy at the Sutherland buys them all the time told me what to order) Open 8:30 to 6..m to f.. but be sure to call Incase hours change

I like thier sausage...just bought some ground beef / pork. It smells fresh. The staff is surly...no point in trying to talk to them. Sullen and kinda pompous....but that might be just me. As an old native woman i take surliness personally sometimes and perhaps i should't. The meat is good. And the price is ok...11.50 for pound of ground, one can of coke, and one sausage and one pepperoni. To me thats a lot of food. And i am pleased with my purchase. I want to buy...
