This location was referred to me by an associate that I met at a conference. And, I must ensure that I thank them for the recommendation!! There is nothing that can eclipse the flavour experience than that of a homemade treat made with love. This is a family owned and operated business that relies on "word of mouth" versus paid advertising. The recipes, the food, and the service are more than just a job... it's their livelihood, and based on my experience here...they love what they do! For a moment, I was transcended back to my youth when our neighbour, a new immigrant from Portugal, would make pasteis de Nata (Portuguese tarts) and malassadas (Portuguese donuts) in her kitchen. Together with her children and my siblings, we would wait patiently for the fresh treats to be ready. It is this exact experience that was replicated on my first visit to this location. Hubby and I went here today for the first time and picked up some Pastel Natal and other tarts. Lucky for us, the Pastel Natal had just come out of the oven. We just got home and ate some, and my husband who’s never had Pastel Natal before has been man-twerking and excitedly singing in our kitchen since first bite. He made sounds eating this pastel that I’ve only heard inside our bedroom. 😂 These were the best pastel I’ve had outside of São Paulo!! Went in to see if they sold Sumol (Portuguese soda), which they did, I bought an assortment of flavours. I also tried the Bifana ( a pork sandwich on a Portuguese water bun with fried onions and hot sauce. The sandwich was fantastic!! The man at the cash machine was funny and very helpful as and the woman cooking was also, she took the time to explain different menu items and products in the store. I’ll definitely go back when in the area or even make time to travel there. Very helpful staff a rarity these days in shops. Fantastic experience in this mom and pop neighborhood store. 5 star...
