Mercado El Cardonal — Local services in Valparaíso

The local food market where locals go to shop. Lots of local flavor, colors and food. They have good seafood restaurants (and the banos) on the second floor. The the other original market was damaged by the last earthquake and it now closed. This market is easy to get to by walking or the local bus. Me gustó mucho el mercado:

Primer Piso: Variedad de puestos de verduras, frutas, cárnicos y pescados. Pienso que los precios son adecuados, a diferencia de otras ciudades como Santiago. El lugar se ve como cualquier otro mercado en términos de “limpieza”, sin embargo la conservación de pescados me hace dudar al estar más expuestos al ambiente y al aire libre (esto es habitual para cualquier mercado).

Segundo Piso: El segundo piso hay varios restaurantes, e incluso uno mencionó tener opciones vegetarianas y veganas. Finalmente me decidí por uno con muy buenas porciones de comida (no pude comer todo). Ojo que me da la impresión que los locos que ofrecen al plato en realidad no son locos, sino gibia (no tengo pruebas pero es mi sospecha).

Seguridad: Como cualquier mercado de grandes ciudades, requiere no andar con objetos de valor a la vista, andar atentos al entorno (sin miedo), y cuidado al cruzar las calles.

Sugerencia al mercado: Incrementar limpieza de áreas de paso (y que los puestos también se hagan cargo de evitar ensuciar) y que los guardias se muestren más dentro del mercado y...
