…hard to believe its our first time in Guangzhou, after decades in HK, but we’re glad we finally did it…and because of our memorable experience last Christmas, its no surprise that we would choose the same chain, this time choosing Ascott Guangzhou, for various reasons related to our itinerary during easter holidays/weekend getaway, besides that we wanted to have the same comfortable experience as we had in Ascott Raffles City Beijing (HI! and thanks again, Miki !)||..we arrived GZ at night, via High Speed Rail (less than 2hrs from HK), @ east station, where we met our pickup, pre-arranged with Guest Services… very friendly driver, informative, telling us about the hotel’s neighbourhood + nearby points of interest..the ride was less than 30minutes…for ref, the metro is accessible from the train station, and switching between lines can bring you to the station, conveniently in a shopping mall (Taikoo Hui) right across the hotel … its just a personal preference to use the hotel’s limo service, to & from the train station..||…check in was quick and smooth (as was check out few days later)…staff on duty, efficiently welcoming, friendly..and besides english, communication became easier once we realized that cantonese was also an option …but sometimes for us, and for future guests, its always good to have your preferred translation app handy, for when ‘chinese/mandarin’ is required with some staff (or encountered locals)..but rest assured ‘Ascott artisans’ will always do their best, no matter the situation, be it recommending sites to see… but a very good example i must share: as the hotel’s dining outlet only serves breakfast, and although there is a convenience store nearby, the staff helped us order in our supper after check in, via food delivery app, since we were not familiar with GZ’s system yet, whatwith being newbies to the city … ||…the apartment assigned was on the 18/F, high enough to get a great view of the city area we were in… 2 bedrooms, bathrooms, a kitchen, dining and sitting room…simple design, very homey feeling…clean, which was upkept for the next days as it always felt like checking in a new apt each time we came home, back from a day of exploring…appliances fully functional, user-friendly …strong water pressure… i could go on, but let’s just say that the apartment is great, falling asleep on the couch is comfortably unavoidable …||…breakfast is simple, again a fusion of chinese and western, buffet …i would say the food options is more about getting a healthy ∨ basic meal to start the day, compared to a grand buffet where there are too many things to try or one gets overstuffed.. ||…theres a pool, a gym, sauna/steam room…we werent able to try them due to our schedule, but its good to know such facilities are available for guests, as is the high standards of customer service provided||‘Thank you, Jimmy, Jacen, Lily (and all other staff we interacted with), but most especially Sui Zhong for the excellent hospitality, welcoming us into your home and making our first time in GZ another memorable experience on the mainland, if not with Ascott…hope to see you all, one day, some...

Read moreStayed in Guangzhou Ascott for 5 nights. Clean and spacious modern apartment with kitchen space, living space and bedroom segregated. Nice lovely welcome fruits (strawberries and blueberries) were placed on the dining table. Bottled water was refilled daily. Bedroom: Plenty of hangers, but the wardrobe space in room was too tight so we use the wardrobe space at the foyer. Bedroom space is too small for me to open-up 2 big luggages too so i used the living room space. King size bed with 4 pillows. Bed is comfortable enough. Kitchen: there’s a dishwasher, stove, fridge and washing machine (I think comes w dryer function too). Bathroom: separate space for bathtub and shower. Didn’t use the bathtub. Shower could be better if rain shower was installed. Basic amenities were available.Location: Opposite Tai Koo Hui. Short walk cross the road. Walking distance to Shi Shang Tian he underground shopping and malls. Nice spa and massage around the area too. Taxis are aplenty as well so it’s easy to get around Concierge: friendly and assisted to help collect Taobao parcels. Cute robots will assist to send parcels or food delivery to your door step.Breakfast: standard breakfast and I particularly enjoyed freshly made unsweetened soybean milk.Only downside is they are doing renovations so drilling noises can be heard from 9am onwards. Overall, it was a wonderful stay at a sweet...
