It opened in July 1978 with The Deer Hunter, and the impact was absolute. While it faced an existential threat in the 2010s and nearly shut down, new management saved it, turned things around, and even built a second theater upstairs to keep business profitable. The indoor lobby used to have an Old Hollywood charm, now replaced with a design that looks like an accountant’s dream—but service, accommodations, and projection quality remain top-notch. The bathrooms are pure vintage, a welcome throwback to 1970s San José. Popcorn prices feel steep? Sure, you could go to the nearby Burger King before the movie—and yes, you could smuggle in a Whopper, because they don’t check—but don’t. Everyone will smell it once the lights go down, and security might have to get involved. My tip: choose the main theater’s upper floor seating. It’s the ideal way to enjoy a film—and if you’re on a date, it’s a dark, discreet place to hold hands and sweat without thinking about family court, divorce, or whatever grim relationship trailers may fill your movie mind. This is a neat old school type theater with only a few movie options, but a great atmosphere. The lobby is beautiful, large and vibrant. (Even the graffiti on the walls leading up to the place are eye catching and cool)
There was quite a line for the 6pm showing since it’s not updated with assigned seats I’d recommend arriving early.

It's a really cozy movie theater with a great selection of movies, many indy movies. The ticket price is low, I liked the sweet popcorn and you can easily order your tickets online.
