Staying at EcoStay was the highlight of our trip! The hotel is run by Martha, her mother, and her son - all of whom will go above and beyond to help you out. (We asked them for help with what to see and other information we needed, and they ALWAYS figured it out for us.)||||In addition to the kind hosts, the rooms are lovely - very clean, nice furniture, and spacy. And the hotel is very central to supermarkets and the museums - only a few blocks away! You can also park your car for free on the road in front (if you have one!) .||||Breakfast was also included and so delicious. I'm vegetarian (and have allergies) and Martha and her mother were kind enough to make amazing eggless pancakes and wraps for breakfast. This was the best food we ate in Costa Rica during our entire trip!||||EcoStay is a must-stay place for both individuals travelling on a low budget (they're a hostel and sell beds individually) and also for families (they do provide private rooms and private bathrooms at very convenient prices). I cannot recommend this place...

Read moreThe kindest people run this hostel. They asked my dietary preferences for breakfast and had an amazing vegan option already lined up, they helped me arrange a covid test with a discount nearby, they let me know about a free walking tour in the city, they learned my name and always said hi even though I was only there two nights, they ordered me a cab to the airport, they got up at 4 in the morning without complaint to greet the taxi. The hostel itself is very clean and cozy. Seems like a good way to meet folks and is conveniently located just off the beaten path in San Jose. Maybe a 10 minute walk from some great...
