Unbelievable experience with this tour - they went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience possible at a very reasonable price.

We did the day tour and our guide, Leandro, was extremely thorough and knowledgeable. He was able to spot so many more animals, especially birds, than we ever could have on our own. He had a telescope-like device that could be used to get a great close up view of the animals even from a great distance, and was able to take pictures and videos through the lens as well. Leandro gave us detailed background info about each animal and could identify all types of species (I.e. he showed us 4 different types of hummingbirds and could go into great detail about each). He knew a lot about the plants/trees as well.

Here’s the best part - we had said we really wanted to see a sloth since it was our last day here and we hadn’t seen one all trip. We were unable to find one on the tour itself, but 2 hours later the tour contacted us and let us know they found a sloth in town. Leandro came back to our hotel and showed us the way to it at no extra cost because they didn’t want us to leave Costa Rica without seeing one. I cannot recommend Rony and his team enough. We met everyone doing the zip line Tree Top Canopy excursion I booked before meeting them since my family and I were staying at El Establo Mountain Hotel where they have a private reserve of the cloud forest, came back later that night for the Night Walk tour, then since we enjoyed this company so much we came back early the next morning for birdwatching tour. They were so great with the kids and we all felt very safe zip lining and Tarzan swing. We learned SO much from Rony and Luis and saw so much, they really tried to show us everything they possibly could and truly love what they do. We had another tree top canopy tour and night walk already booked before arriving at the Monteverde Wildlife Refuge but we wished Rony or anyone from his team was there instead because they knew so much more about the wildlife, insects, flora, fauna, and history of Monteverde. Highly recommend doing this guided night walk tour to anyone who is interested. Our guide Rodolfo clearly loves what he does! Not only was he super informative about everything that we saw, he was literally running with excitement each time he thought he spotted something new! When we arrived, everyone was given a flashlight and a briefing on what to expect. We were asked if anyone had any phobias and the guides made sure to warn you whenever we were approaching anything someone had a phobia of. We were split into smaller groups, each with our own guide to allow for better viewing opportunities and to create less noise while moving about since it can startle wildlife away. The guides were all in communication with one another and would share each time they found something noteworthy so all the groups got to enjoy the same amount of stuff. Our guide took up close photos of everything we saw and then shared the images via a Google drive link so that we could download them.
