I struggle giving this a 3/5 stars because the wildlife we saw was wonderful and it was fantastic to be outside exploring. With that said, I give this a 3/5 stars for the people element - our guide Sergio was a bit short / curt when asked questions. Additionally, I don't believe we were made aware of this when signing up but this tour was offered in Spanish and English, which made this feel inefficient and slower than a tour that were just offered in one language and made us feel a bit detached from the experience. I believe the guide was possibly offering the tour in 2 language as a kind gesture for a group who spoke Spanish as their primary language, which was very kind, but it did affect the experience. I would recommend to others attending, ensure that your tour is just in one language, as it will feel like a more seamless experience. Apart from the above constructive feedback, I would recommend this experience!

The night walk tour I recently took fell far below expectations. It suffered from overcrowding, excessive pricing, and missed opportunities for a truly remarkable experience.
The overcrowding issue was apparent from the start, with an overwhelming number of participants crammed together. This made it difficult to enjoy the surroundings or engage with the guide, resulting in a chaotic and less-than-pleasant atmosphere.
Adding to the disappointment was the disproportionate pricing. The cost paid for the tour did not match the value received, suggesting a focus on profit rather than delivering a worthwhile experience.
Moreover, the tour missed opportunities to provide unique features that could have made it memorable. It felt rushed and generic, lacking depth and engaging commentary from the guide.
In light of these shortcomings, I cannot recommend this night walk tour. The overcrowding, overpricing, and missed potential make it a...
Read moreOur visit on 9 Dec was more of just a walk in the dark and not the night tour of nocturnal animals I was hoping for. Our guide was polite and seemed effecting at spotting what animals were present. The tour provided one guide for each pair of guests. Entrance to the trail was quite muddy and slippery, but the remainder of the trails had gravel where needed to allow safe walking. We saw part of a snake balled up on a limb in a very tall tree, a frog in a pool that looked very common within the Southeastern USA, a line of leaf cutter ants working around the clock, and several pairs of birds sleeping in trees. We saw one other snake that was extended in a bush with head low toward the ground as waiting for its prey. Maybe it was just the weather that night, but no sloths or other night animals on the move. Based on what our experience turned out to be, I wish I had passed on the Monteverde Night Tour and just stuck to visiting cloud forests...
