Having revisited this place today and resolving never to return, I couldn't let my old 5-star review stand anymore. The quality of the food, the selection, the service, and even the decor have been steadily declining for months, even as prices have skyrocketed. I just paid 218 DKK for a toast, a handful of mediocre fries, and a 'milkshake' that was served LUKEWARM. For that kind of money, I could've had an ACTUAL MEAL at a decent restaurant in the sane area! The pricing honestly borders on a scam - if you buy a 'menu', you get a toast or burger, and some fries, and that's IT. Want dip? 10 DKK for a tiny tub of ketchup that won't even be enough for the small portion of fries you get. Want ENOUGH dip, that'll be 20. Want something to drink too? That's extra, and pricey, and lukewarm as previously mentioned!
If, for whatever reason, you HAVE to eat here, I recommend just getting one of the short handful of toasts they still serve, and nothing else. They're still decent-ish and fairly filling, and that way you can avoid being gouged on all the extras.
I'm leaving my original review below here, as a memorial to the excellent Toast-spot that once was, may it rest in peace and molten cheese...
OLD=============
Cozy place, great for a relaxing meal. The menu's rather short, but everything on it is delicious - I dunno what the dipping-sauce you get with your fries is, but it sure is tasty! The 'Wake Up' toast - featuring crispy bacon and a fried egg - is particularly worthy of recommendation. Though, since they only open at half past eleven these days, I suppose it's mostly meant for a particular kind of waking up... one that involves a lot of groaning and probably some sunglasses. But hey, it works just fine for a late lunch...
Read moreThe vegan version of the avocado sandwich was really good. The thyme fries we had as a side dish were very good but i guess this depends on whether you like thyme. Latte and Cappuccino were available with oat milk but unfortunately only for some extra charge. The same for the ketchup we ordered for the fries.
The avocado sandwich is the only one with an official vegan version although the cashier offered to prepare vegan versions of the others as well by replacing the chicken with avocado... which i guess makes them avocado sandwiches. But I really liked the offer so the cashier really cared about offering something vegan.
Although the restaurant is self-ordering and pay-in-advance, the food was served and the staff also collected the empty trays in between. The toilet was clean although a little old and...
Read moreI went to ToastIt today. It used to VERY good there, but not anymore. We both ordered the avocado toast, but instead of olive tapenade, which it said on the menu, our sandwiches had barbecue sauce. This is a significant change, and should be announced. I do not like BBQ sauce, and it did NOT fit in. We were at the store, so the staff had plenty of opportunities to ask us our preference of substitute, but they did not. Instead they but barbecue sauce in a vegetarian avocado toast??? Super weird combination of flavors. I have been recommending this place to friends for a long time, since it used to be good, but it clearly is...
