Avignon Centre — Local services in Avignon

I had to pass through this train station at least twice a day during 6 months for professional purposes. The word I would use to sum up my experience is this one : terrible.

*Cold and/or rude staff everywhere (Once I've been insulted for being on my bicycle to adjust the saddle) *The staff says different things about the refunding to me (fake informations here and there). Same problem for e-tickets and for the 6 month pass. On the top of all, there are 2 Internet websites for the SNCF, saying different things as well. *Staff timetables change every week for no obvious reason. *ZOU services are pretty bad : very limited timetables & dysfunctioning cards. I had to make 3 new cards and it was still not working in the bus nor in the train. *You have to pay for going to the rest room in this train station *Disgusting toilets in some trains while being in Covid19 crisis. Yet they seem to enjoy flaming and harrassing people for "sanitary reasons". The pot calling the kettle back! *Timetables for the trains changed every time without any reason *The trains I took never came in time. Some of them were suppressed without notice to the user. *People are too politically engaged. Strikers are very often here and they never announce when the trains are suppressed. You can't find any information on the internet nor in the news The staff refuses to say how long could possibly last the strikes. They don't say the purpose of the strikes either. Useless. Staff aren’t helpful. Needed to get a TGV from Avignon (it’s from a separate station called Avignon TGV-if you book online it doesn’t explain this vs if you buy a ticket over the counter it comes w a helpful “it’s 6ks away from Avignon centre’). Couldn’t see the departure time listed on my ticket on the screen at Avignon centre station, I was there early. So I asked a staff member for help - he told me l to “look at the screen for departure info”. Great. Next a station staff meet told me to sit on an empty train that was not going anywhere on platform B (are these guys just playing or what?) train had lights off. No one on it. No departure info. Also stations are numbered weird at Avignon centre such as A, B? I should have clicked that I was at the wrong station by now, but took a few more minutes till somebody informed me (SCNF ticket office which I finally went into) that I needed to be at another station and did I want a ticket there? 3.80 euro. Yes it’s my fault I missed the train and had to spend another 34 Euro when I got to Avignon TGV…. As TGV doesn’t refund. Staff are hopeless at Avignon centre station. This is the station where to alight when coming to Avignon for the old city, aka intra-muros, located just across the street. The bus station is nearby, to the left when facing the old city. Last, there is a dedicated and sheltered bicycle park where visitors on two wheels can leave their frames while walking around the cobbled streets of intra-muros. There are functioning lifts, escalators and stairs to reach your designated platform. Be aware that a couple of tracks are hidden behind the main building. There is also a handful of SNCF assistants at the ready to help tourists and locals. The ticketing office runs smoothly and efficiently.
