I have to say that it’s not really a perfect stay at this hotel. We were delightful that we got a room on the rooftop and it seems to be nice at the first glance. After we checkin the room and ready for our exploring in Avignon, we found the door can’t be locked successfully. We requested the lady in the reception for help and she couldn’t make it as well. Therefore, she told us that she will close the rooftop bar and only the guests on the rooftop can access. She assures us it will be fixed tomorrow. In the second day morning, we told the reception again and the other lady assured us that it will be fixed or they will help us changing the room. When we came back on the second day afternoon, the door still NOT FIXED. It just stuck inside the door side hole. The third lady tried to help us and seems that we have to make a huge force from the inside to close the room. However, we can’t close the door from outside. The lady explained it the problem of humidity.
Though the hotel staff were all nice in helping us, I still want to point out that the following issues: The security issue: We are two female travellers and the security is always our first concern. Sleeping in a room without lock, though they assure it’s safe in town, we still felt worried at night and can’t have a good sleep. It not only endanger our belongings but also our lives. Should the hotel put our lives in the first concerns? The lady closed the bar for us might be safe for certain hours, but it’s never told whether there will be other things happened. It is said the door is fixed. However, the fixer might only use his force to push back the door. It’s not really fixed. Only looks like it’s fixed but not. Hope the hotel can take a more progressive action to solve this problem. Last but not the least, there is no compensation after all this. We spent our money and time here but didn’t get a equal payback. That’s really a...
Read moreHorrific experience, for the following reasons:|1) No air conditioning. It was 95 degrees outside, and it felt like that in the room. We sweltered. The front desk personnel insisted that we could adjust the temperature in our room; not so. I finally went down to the front desk and complained and the person adjusted something behind the desk, which lowered the temperature by a degree or so. |2) The room smelled bad, probably due to problem number 1.|3) There was a musician with a huge amp directly in front of the hotel who cranked out crappy American music until 1:00 AM. If we hadn't already been unable to sleep because of the intense heat, we would have been kept up by the pounding music.|4) No safe in the room. I had to lock up my valuables inside my (thankfully) lockable suitcase.|5) Shampoo/bath gel container was completely empty, which we discovered while already in the shower.|6) No (apparent) nearby parking. The hotel should provide explicit instructions on where/how to park, especially during the Avignon Festival, during which time the street in front of the hotel is closed to vehicles.|7) The outdoor patio is nice, but not enough to compensate for the host...
Read moreWe stayed one night in the Hotel Central in Avignon and we had a whale of time. On our arrival at the hotel, we had our first drink on the magnificent patio as we were waiting for our room to get ready. The staff was really friendly and polite and even gave us some free snacks to nibble on while we were waiting. However, to be honest, the room wasn’t that great. Even though it was clean, it was roughly the same size as a doghouse. We even had to struggle where to put our luggage because there was so little space. Still, as we were only staying for one night it was okay. What really made this stay unforgettable was the time we spend in the city Avignon. I loved it right away with its beautiful old streets, the picturesque alleyways and the fact that the city was completely surrounded by the lofty walls of the fortress. We were even lucky enough to be there while the night shows were taking place. Nevertheless, I would advise you against this hotel if you were to stay for a longer period. If you only stick around for a few days, as we did, I think the Hotel is...
