As usual with France, this is a fabulous market which is used pretty much continually; I was in town over the weekend and stalls inside and out were open both days selling some amazing food; the bakery stalls outside were both top drawer, and the cheese range inside was similarly great (tomme with 7 flowers was one of the best cheeses I've ever had).
It really shows up the UK when this is how food is bought, at a local market not (big generalisation) at a supermarket; I didn't see a decent size supermaket in the centre so guessing there are huge ones on the outskirts, but still.. this market sold amazing food and was rammed with people, main;y locals, every time I visited. It's in a nice part of the town too, with many old buildings lining the square the market is on, and lots of cafes too!
