The terminal was very basic and run down. We bought tickets for the shuttle bus service for €7 per person into the town, to the shopping district and back to the port. The shuttle service seemed quite slow and disorganised going into the town but nothing to complain about at that point. When we tried to return from the shopping district we ended up waiting 45 minutes for a shuttle bus to come and not even stop as it was completely full with people going straight back to the port from the town. With no clue how long the next bus would be or if it would even stop we felt stranded and felt like we had no choice but to walk the 35 minutes back to the port. Unfortunately the trouble didn't stop there. When we got to the port it was absolutely rammed in security with nobody moving at all, we were shouted at by one of the port officials as we were in his queue which was too full and he wanted us to move to another, very rude and no need. We ended up waiting in security for around another 15 minutes and felt like cattle. Really spoilt the visit to Le Havre,...
Read moreWe're frequent cruises and unfortunately, this cruise terminal needs some serious upgrades. It is still very industrial and only friendly to those on excursions or being picked up and dropped off by buses. However when you walk into the city centre, it's like walking through an apocalyptic environment surrounded by seemingly abandoned warehouses. There are walking paths, just not well marked or maintained.
Ironic since Le Havre is a Unesco site being praised for its architecture and livability standards after the destruction of WW2. Time for that reputation to transcend itself to this terminal. If this is the ocean-going gateway for passengers into WW2 sites in Normandy, Juno Beach, etc. then let's make it one that honours and respects this region's importance to...
Read moreA bit unfair to give this cruise terminal two stars. At the moment, I believe that they are refurbishing the cruise terminal. If you can walk ok, don’t get the shuttle bus into the town, the ships charge around £10 return, it really isn’t worth it. It’ll take you around twenty minutes to walk it and that’s at an easy pace. The way into the town isn’t the prettiest but I’ve seen worse, it’s got a couple of small bridges to walk over and if you’re lucky, you’ll see them lift to get the boats through. You can see where you’ll walk to from the ship, it’s only a matter of getting over the water. When the cruise terminal is finished, I’m sure it will be so much better and will be able to get Wi-Fi, which at the moment,...
