Marseille In The Box — Local services in Marseille

I recently saw a documentary about Marseille and the impact of Covid-19 on the local shops. I had to think back to my visit to Marseille back in 2018, where I stumbled upon "Marseille in the box", a cute little store that offers a wide variety of souvenirs from Marseille. It's easily overlooked, as it is located on a byroad of the main "Quai du Port", behind the Église Saint-Ferréol.

Apart from the usual souvenirs, the selection is truly hand-picked (as you can see from the 360 shots from inside the store). Among other items, I got a can with a comic painting of Marseille on it, as well as one of the original soaps that are still produced there. It's the charming owner that gives the place that extra noteworthiness, e.g. he explained how the soap is made, and what the difference between the original ones and the typical ones that you can buy on the market in Marseille is. It's this kind of friendliness and storytelling that will bring back all the positive memories of the shop and a great vacation, every time I look at the can - which is now standing at the cupboard of my parents as my mom liked it so much.

I just hope that places like these will survive even after Covid. If you happen to be in Marseille, go there, buy something - anything - to make sure this...

Visited last month looking for lavender products. My credit card didn’t work on the first payment attempt. As I looked at the card reader to understand the issue, the woman working behind the counter raised her voice at me in English (I’m American) - almost yelling in anger about the declined payment. Her response was shocking and honestly very embarrassing for me, as there were other customers in the store. I paid in Euros to get out of there as quickly as possible. Her behaviour so incredibly inappropriate that I am coming back weeks later to finally leave...

I was in your wonderful shop about 10 days ago and bought a couple of souvenirs, including a set of Mini Boules. I packed it in my suitcase, but when I returned home (USA) and unpacked, the Mini Boules were gone (stolen). This particular souvenir has special sentimental value to me and I very much want to purchase a replacement from you. Can we arrange to make that happen, including shipment to me in the USA? I tried to order on your website, but wasn’t successful in setting up an account....
