Major works in progress. Major problem with ergonomics of signs. Example: get to top of stairs and the departures screen is seen edge-on! Or, arrows leading to the ticket office take us around in a big circle, only to be blocked by works fencing; better cover up these useless signs! Staff are very friendly, but security officers (in red) seem better informed than actual SNCF station staff. When work is finished, the station will be nice BUT a lot of the ergonomic issues are with infrastructure that looks finshed. And, where is the big tradiyitrad clock to see what time it is? You have to find a departure screen (more easily said than done) and check the time in the bottom right-hand corner. Marina (or Marine - I'm sorry for forgetting!) at the small help desk saved us, rebooking our tickets on the next train and upgrading us to first class. She understood, empathized, and found a solution. Thank you for going above and beyond in your customer service. We won't forget it!
As for the station itself, it had clear display boards which were well-located, good amenities, including food and washrooms, and was easy to navigate. No...
Read moreIf you're making Rennes your homebase, more likely than not you'll be traveling to Mont St-Michel or other nearby destinations in Brittany. La Gare Routière is where you can buy your bus tickets for Mont St-Michel as well as other destinations. Keonis goes to Mont St-Michel. If you're headed for other destinations, check out Starshipper bus lines. We found them incredibly affordable. 10 euros roundtrip to go to Nantes! Or was it to Vannes? I don't remember, but they are affordable nonetheless. Most of the bus lines do offer free wifi, by the way. If you fear running out of battery charge on your cell phone or other devices, buses do have outlets for their passengers so remember to bring...
