Good afternoon, I travelled to Georgia last week, I read on the internet that the single option to travel in Tbilisi is by purchasing the travel card and in the airport I was redirected to your branch office for purchasing it. I wasn't informed by the madam in the office that I have to insert into your machines the exact amount of money with which I want to top up, so I inserted a 20 GEL banknote to top up with 3 GEL (day ticket) and the machine hasn't given me any change. From that moment, I tried 1 hour and a half at the airport to recover my rest of money, I haven't managed to do because it was Saturday and the madam from the airport office told me to go in a workday, I've been in a workday at another branch in Batumi, they told me to go back in the evening, in the evening they told me it's impossible to request a refund without a Georgian phone number, I called from a Georgian number next day, pressed number 5 for English and the operator told me that she doesn't speak English and I will be called back by somebody who knows English (sic!), they called back and they told me to go to the branch located at LIberty Square no. 4 to Tbilisi, cause it's 24/7 open, I went there in the evening, they told me it's not a working hour for recovering my money and to return in the next morning and finally in the next morning I managed to receive my money back after 6 attempts (!!!) and hassle, ruined time and nerves. Given the fact that your bank damages the image of your country tourism and given the fact that we live in 2023, I suggest you to implement one or more of the following:
The Bank of Georgia HQ isn't just a building; it's an architectural marvel. Standing tall with 18 storeys, this structure is a dream for anyone who loves Brutalist architecture. Many even consider it to be in the top 10 Brutalist buildings worldwide! Its design stands out with a unique grid of concrete shapes that lock into each other. It’s like a giant Jenna game! Picture five two-story blocks, almost like they've been stacked on top of one another. This innovative design was the brainchild of architects George Chakhava and Zurab Jalaghania. Originally built for the Ministry of Highway Construction in 1975, it now houses the Bank of Georgia. If you're in Tbilisi and have an interest in architecture, you definitely won't want to miss this...
Read moreExtremely disappointed with this bank as I can't get my savings money out, or even into another account at the same bank, without going into branch, despite them knowing full well that I'm an international customer (their excuse is that the app has a 20k GEL limit and that apparently means I can't move the money online, or via any other remote means!)
Edit: I've discovered that you can operate the accounts remotely, IF you pay to become a premium banking customer. Adding one star to this review as while I don't think this is very reasonable, I acknowledge that there is a remote option...
